Whether or not one agrees with this, the woman should have known the law, just as a bikini wearing Western woman should know an Islamic country's laws.

The only correct part of your post is that the police are correct in enforcing the law - although not for the reason you have offered.

I am interested to know what you believe what 'protection' is offered by stopping people dressing a certain way?

I agree Ummmm I am off to the States soon and my swim suit is a two piece made up of swim leggings and a long sleeved swim top. Looking at it, it looks the same as the woman on the beach in the picture, I just don't wear a scarf, but I will have a hat on!

If you don't already know there are certain laws which are indeed enforceable as regards those three practices.

Contrary to my initial post, this has provided a lengthy and stimulating debate!

But it still boils down to a very simply question - is the enactment and enforcement of this law actually going to make people safer, which would be an excellent reason for its implementation.

The simple argument is clearly that it will not, and no amount of rhetoric around it is going to alter that simple fact.

As your Best Answer refers - this is rooted in a need to be seen to be dealing with the Islamist threat, even though it is utterly pointless, and creates more problems than it solves.

This is a bad law, badly enforced, and as I have advised in my posts, it will merely serve to inflame the Jihadists, and heaven knows, that is something the absolutely don't need!
