At last ! The Police should have done this months ago.

"Det Supt Katie Elliott said searching the site in Milton, Cambridgeshire, was "the next logical step."

Katie....that "next logical step" was in September last year, not after nearly 5 months of tipping has been done. I hope that if and when Corrie's body has been found, an Enquiry will be launched into the Police's actions in this case. Woefully inadequate so far, and this is the son of a serving Police Officer we are talking about.

Mikey, have you been drinking?
I should imagine what Islay means is that he has probably been interviewed about his conduct. If he has staged this disappearance he might be doing it partly to stick two fingers up to the RAF.

Please accept my apologies them Islay.....entirely my fault for getting the wrong end of the stick !

I hope that makes it clear !
Thank you Mikey

Very true, DB.

I have heard some spine tingling stories about what servicemen and women get up to... most of the tales came from my grubby ex who was in the RAF himself.
It depends on if it was being made public, to be on a public forum advertising your services is a lot different to keeping it inside your house.
My father had to sort out several wayward airmen in his time and it was dependant on what and how well known they had been up to.

DB... that made me laugh. Now my tummy hurts.

Thanks Islay ! I am so glad we got that sorted out. There are many here on AB that I would gladly argue with, but you are not amongst them !

This case has bothered me for months.

I feel so sorry for his poor Mum, who must be tearing her hair out by now. He seemed a nice lad and it must be a great blow to all that loved him, that they have, as yet, no closure.

We had a similar case here in Swansea very recently, and it was all resolved in a couple of days. Not a good result, but no mystery left for the family to brood over.
The area is not 'rural' naomi it is just outside Cambridge . Only a few miles up the road from me. I know the area well, low density housing with a few small businesses, not 'open country'
Eddie, I beg to differ. Cambridge is not just outside Cambridge. It is 25 miles from Cambridge - and Suffolk is a rural area.
Derr.... *Bury St Edmunds* is not just outside Cambridge ....
I know the area vaguely too and it is indeed a strange case. He hasn't just vanished into thin air so the refuse truck does seem the logical explanations but yet.....
Smowball, the refuse truck has been discounted. See my post at 18.49.
Smow, the bin lorry was seized and forensically examined - no trace of him found.

But then again did he use the lorry to conceal himself and then jump off at another point.

Puzzling.
Naomi the missing airman is from Bury St Edmund's and he was last seen in Bury St Edmund's , the landfill site that is being searched is at Milton just outside Cambridge. I drive past the entrance to the Milton landfill site when I work at one of the kitchens my agency send me to.
Eddie, I’m not talking about the landfill site - I'm talking about Suffolk where he was last seen. It’s a rural area.
OK crossed thread. I also know Bury St Edmond's, mainly because it is where Greene King is based and where I did a cellar management course ( with lots of free Greene King beer!) Bury st eds is only 15 miles from me. Perhaps he fell into a vat of Greene King IPA!
Have you read this piece mikey? it was in the 'associated items' on your link

He was last recorded on CCTV turning into an area known as the 'Horseshoe', it is a bin storage area for Greggs and other shops.
It is impossible to leave that area on foot without being seen on CCTV but a bin lorry collected waste from skips in 'The Horseshoe' just a short time later and dumped the waste at the Milton landfill site just outside Cambridge. Does not take Sherlock Holmes to see what may have happened! It is known he was drunk, so he climbed into a skip to have a kip ! and the bin lorry turned up!
