Corrie Mckeague: Police To Search Landfill Site In Milton
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/uk -englan d-suffo lk-3893 2290
At last ! The Police should have done this months ago.
"Det Supt Katie Elliott said searching the site in Milton, Cambridgeshire, was "the next logical step."
Katie....that "next logical step" was in September last year, not after nearly 5 months of tipping has been done. I hope that if and when Corrie's body has been found, an Enquiry will be launched into the Police's actions in this case. Woefully inadequate so far, and this is the son of a serving Police Officer we are talking about.

I have used a few weighbridges to weigh in scrap. One of my jobs was taking my companies scrap metal to the scrap yard. It's far from unknown for there to be a mistake on the weight ticket. The most common reason is that the weigh bridge was not correctly 'tared' before the next vehicle was on the bridge.
It's also worth remembering that it costs a lot of money to tip at a landfill site. (A full bin lorry load costs over £1000, largely made up of Landfill Tax). So there's always a temptation for licensed waste carriers to falsify their paperwork, possibly in collusion with the weighbridge operator.
Any operator who actually tipped several hundred kilograms, but whose paperwork only shows 33kg, probably isn't going to rush into risking a prison sentence (if it can then be shown that he's been fiddling the paperwork for years) when asked by Pc Plod about the weight his lorry was carrying.

^Exactly Chris. The operators and the drivers work a 'fiddle' underestimating the amount of waste tipped and split the difference between them.
naomi , yes it was in Suffolk. But in the town center of Bury St Edmond's in the nightclub, bars & restaurant area!
He was last recorded on CCTV walking into the bin storage area behind Gregg's bakery. Hardly a 'Rural' area as I ( and probably Buenchico) know personally. That area of Bury is known as a good place for a pub crawl due to the large number is pubs and bars!
The sleep theory is given further credibility as he was recorded shortly before 'having a nap' in a shop door way!

Ummmm When a truck goes into a tip the entire truck and its load drives on to a 'Weighbridge' which is just a huge set of scales.Weighbridges can weigh even a fully loaded lorry up to 70 tonnes and more!
It has to be weighed as waste is charged by the kilogram for disposal. However fiddles are widespread. The driver and the weighbridge operator work a scam where a tickets is made to show a lower weight of waste was really dumped. The company pays the full price and the operator and the drivers split the extra cash between them, it is very common.
Falsifying waste tickets can be a prison sentence, so if, as is likely, the weighbridge operator and the lorry driver were working the 'scam' they both face criminal charges!
That is why they are not going to admit anything!

I too know Bury St Edmunds personally. He was last seen in the town, but a very short drive would have taken him to farmland and open countryside, not forgetting that Thetford Forest is only about 30 minutes away. I think it possible that he ended up at the tip, but it's also possible that he's lying unnoticed in a ditch somewhere. If he got into someone's car he could be anywhere.

We are still left with the mystery of how he left the service area behind Greggs, without being seen by CCTV.
It has to be in a vehicle of some kind. .....a car, a van or the bin lorry. The landfill site should have been searched immediately the CCTV footage was seen, to eliminate it from enquiries. If this lad was there, then perhaps there was a chance that he was still alive.
Whatever the result of this search, the Police have some very difficult questions to answer.
