A, I am not ranting. B, I have the balls to call out homophobic bigots what ever their religion ... try it for once.

The voice of common sense. BA for AOG.
It's not hypocritical.....it's trying to debate a certain strand of a topic without having to drag in the whole kit and caboodle.

But it IS interesting to see to see who the contributors are who are the first to throw in a 'Muslim comparison'.

It means that we are almost never able to debate anything occurring in these islands without having to turn our attention to Islam/Muslims and how they might view/respond/behave over the matter in hand.
The voice of common sense. BA for jackthehat.
The clue's in the title, 'Religion No Excuse For Gay Discrimination'.

You would appear to have, inadvertently, wandered over here from the
'Christianity No Excuse For Gay Discrimination' thread.
Religion is no excuse for Gay discrimination , I agree.

In the particular case linked to this lady has been most disingenuous too.

//Barronelle Stutzman, knew that Mr. Ingersoll and Mr. Freed were gay and had sold them flowers for years.//
Mamyalynne

//Barronelle Stutzman, knew that Mr. Ingersoll and Mr. Freed were gay and had sold them flowers for years.//

Yes but the point being, that she did not hold any dislike towards gays.

It seems her problem was over same sex marriages, and there are many who hold these views, and just because they do they should not be insulted by being name called, ie bigots or homophobic.

There is something not quite right in two women or two men being 'Married' and calling themselves 'Husband' and 'Wife'.

That is an opinion and shows exactly why you have great sympathy with the Florist and the Irish Bakers.
You would be surprised at the number of gay people who are appalled at the concept of gay marriage.

Yes. I would.
So would I.
I can't understand why a civil partnership ( denied to him/her couples) is not sufficient.
Well you both need to get out more.
I've been out for years, Jackdaw...
Jth

Why are we not allowed a comparison on a thread about religious bigotry?
I think it is interesting to see who the contributors are who will never say anything even slightly contentious if it is Muslim related.

I have to say I would not - but if you think the appropriate response to illegal discrimination is to simply say nothing and walk away, then you can consider yourself partly responsible for the fact that discrimination thrives and multiplies, because no-one does anything about it.

And yet I am being called a bigot for not ignoring the fact that Muslims can match Christians any day of the week for illigal discrimination.

By the way notice I listen to opposing arguments then challenge the argument rather than resorting to name calling ... that would be er ... intolerance towards those who hold different opinions from oneself.
There a name for that but I can't quite remember what it is.

///I can't understand why a civil partnership ( denied to him/her couples) is not sufficient. ///

Because it's not sufficient...
You just aren't mixing in the right circles jth.

AOG thank you for repeating my comments, I don't share her views or yours.
Here we go. Lets start going over old ground!
jackthehat / ummmm
Have a read you are in for a surprise.

I read that 3 years ago when it was written.
Are 'some' gay people opposed to gay marriage? Yes they are....
I'm not sure that it makes them either appalled or in any significant numbers.
We went from wedding flowers to Muslims in just seven posts. Now there's a benchmark to try and beat.
