Galloway is on planet Galloway. A complete irrelevance to anything sensible. I hope Mr McGuinness's death will spur the politicians on to agreement in the current difficult circumstances. In the end he was a major figure in the peace process and his death is a sad event. He proved that people can change for the better.
//Disappointing to see the Battle of the Bogside being replayed on here.//
Why would anyone try to diminish the pain and suffering of the Bogside victims with a trite throwaway comment. No one has been maimed, murdered, beaten, robbed or plain disappeared from the face of the Earth.
Accusing others of "petty little swipes" and then asking Togo to go and play like a good little boy.
Suggesting the murders be stated as alleged murders and then accusing Douglas of being wrong because he prefers plain murder - can I refer you to your post on the Sgt Blackman thread where you stated "To my mind it was murder plain and simple" even though it isn't.
To be in the IRA or in fact any terrorist group you have to show your allegiance. You don't do that with words you do it with actions. You don't get to the top of the food chain in a terrorist group by sitting and talking about how unfair life is.
You get there by what you do. How effective you are. How committed you are and how much respect you get is directly proportionate to how well you do that.
Alleged this and alleged that is nothing short of appeasement. Peace was brokered on the back of non prosecution clauses. That's how he managed to not get found guilty of anything.
Deskdiary, Blackman committed murder on camera he admitted as such and was tried and found guilty.
To my knowledge McGuiness has never been tried so cannot be called a murderer!
Why not derail it you did when you first brought up Blackman!
I shall rephrase that he was originally found guilty of murder before he was apparently found to be suffering from a mental health condition.
which is another interesting fact considering when other murderers are mentioned on here and their mental health is brought into question the ususal crew claim this is a get out of jail card. No such screams this time it would seem!!
Mt grandad was in the IRA (obviously the old IRA) and we used to have people coming in the pub collecting for the boys! If you ever wanted to see a small Irish man wearing a flat cap and with a walking stick lose his nut then all you had to do was mention the IRA.
I remember him attacking a collector with his walking stick. It wasn't even his pub :-D
