The problem is many Scots wish to remain part of the EU now that is taken away from them they no longer wish to be part of the UK.

Could be a convenient solution - let both Northern Ireland and Scotland go, build a frontier. England and Wales pay off them both instead of shovelling money to Brussels to prop up the economy for, say 3 years, then Brussels gets to pick up the economic mess of two largely moribund economies and the Northern Irish political/social problems.

We also get the Faslane nuclear base and invest that into Pembrokeshire and Plymouth, boosting two of our poorer regional economies.

At $60 oil, the estimated recoverables in Scottish waters are 11bln barrels. Nicola has been working on a premise of 24. Lack of capital investment or oil at 40 could see this slashed to 5 bln

To turn this around, the UK uses 1.5mln bbl.day, so in a year, that's about 1/2 billion barrels in a year. So, as things stand at the moment, this is not massive reserve - and it will take a huge effort to produce 0.8mln bbl/day out of Scottish waters. (there is some extra gas too - but a lot of gas comes out of the South North Sea). Current production is 0.9 mln bbl/day in rapidly aging fields.
