It's as safe as it was on 7/7/2005.
I'm just glad we've made twelve years of progress.
complete non sequitur
( o god I know everyone just says the same things)

assumes that safety is closely connected to how many police you can see. Obviously not true- lots of police at a car crash and I would say that is a particularly safe place.....

Not only that - it implies a bomber sees a police man and says - oo I had better go and bomb somewhere else - but arent they drawn towards people in authority ?

and finally crime went down 2010-2015

so - is Britain safer ? yup
Yes we need more police ... because there is so many wannbe jihadists up and down the country.

I wouldn't trust Corbyn to do anything about that though even if he created another 100,000 police officer jobs

no I think it is safer

almost immediately on 7/7
people said ( including the injured) said that the emergency services were slow to react and left people to die as it was an unsafe environment in a dark electrified Tube tunnel. There were even reports of bystanders being told to leave the injured they were tending whilst the victims screamed "no no dont leave us we'll die!"
The Br Transport Police locked themselves into their building and said "we arent coming out until things die down" coincidentally abutting Tavistock sq

David Davis said ( hey he is still in power isnt he ?) said the mismatch between what the people said happened and what the gubmint said had occurred was so great that there should be a public inquiry ( refused )

So Lady Hallett did the inquests - but hold it she had to say why they died ( "they were blown up") and whether their treatment or lack of it contributed to their deaths - so the whole sorry truth leaked out
17 wks of inquest testimoney at 250 000 words a day
five day week but it is still a long long read

and whilst thinkers like Katie Hopkins screamed on american TV - "kill them ! kill them! deport every last muslim!"
None of that happened in Manchester

Mikey, I'm surprised you think we are not safer, based on police numbers.

I thought you would think the opposite and confirm that the Muslim community are doing everything they can to assist the authorities in identifying people of concern in a timely fashion?

Isn't proaction better than reaction?
It's as safe as it was under labour who also cut the police force significantly!

agc....it just seems to me to be obvious....we can't possibly be more safe, with less Officers. The threat from Islamic terrorists needs to be fought on many fronts, but we still need adequate Police numbers.
Mikey, are we as safe now as we were on 7/7?
It's called working smarter!! You don't always need feet on the floor! With the intelligence services and eyes in the sky and working with different intelligence communities what more can PC Plod do compared to the highly trained industry?
Question Author
Islay...........the highly trained industry, that appears to have had Abedi in its sights and on its radar but still failed to act ?
Clearly that is an indication of how big the problem is. How many potential terrorist were regarded as a bigger threat?
Numbers aren't everything though Mikey.

Quality over quantity.

1 golden nugget of info to prevent a massive terrorist attack is worth more than thousands of men on the beat.
Mikey, ignore my awkward question if you like, but aren't practically all the terrorists who succeed in their foul ambition known to the security services? This is nothing new. You're shamelessly trying to make political capital out of this appalling slaughter, and it doesn't work.
Mikey and how many more didn't get through? If you had another 20000 coppers they wouldn't have caught him either!! Give it up already you daily rants over the police force is getting tiresome, labour cannot win the election under their current leadership!
Question Author
Daily rants Islay !...trying to stifle debate now are you ?

Disagree with me if you like, and you will, but its a point that needs answering.
Lol 'trying to stifle debates'
Mikey you are beginning to sound like someone else on here who also doesn't like it being pointed out that they are repetative!!
Daily rants Islay !...trying to stifle debate now are you ?

On how many threads have you have mentioned the 10,000 coppers?
This thread smacks of desperation.
Question Author
20,000 coppers actually.
Take a look at where the 1 and 2 are on a keyboard .... it is called a typo.

But at least you accept you have had plenty of airtime on the subject.
