Is The Tide Now Turning Favourably For Donald Trump?
Only the seriously deranged still believe that there was any tampering by Russia with the election results, - all these months and not a scrap of evidence. The Supreme Court has now overturned the ban on his preventing his free entry of Muslims from certain countries and he has shown his authority by not having a White House dinner to celebrate the end of Ramadan, - and why should he?

Still, he ran on the Republican ticket and benefited from the resulting "anyone but Clinton" vote.
Personally, Naomi, I don't see the criticisms or attacks of Trump as any different from the same directed at Abbott or Corbyn. The difference is that you like Trump and not the other two. The other difference is that what Trump says, and does, actually matters.

Perhaps so, Naomi, but in the long run what criticism of Trump has there been that is, objectively, totally unwarranted, or at least not worthy of discussion? I can provide a list again, if you like, although whenever I have done it's generally passed without serious comment.

With respect to the original post, I'm slightly surprised at the Court Ruling, given how unanimous most of the lower court decisions were, but maybe the picture will change in October. Or maybe not. The key though is that due process has been followed, something that Trump seemed to show rather little respect for when the decisions went against him.

Specifically what criticism of Trump do you feel is unwarranted?
Was it when he pretended to be handicapped, waving his hands around when referring to a disabled reporter?
Or when he claimed that his inauguration crowd was bigger than Obama's?
Or when he claimed to hold the record for appearances on the cover of Time magazine (he had been on 11 times, Nixon had been on 55 times).
Or when he claimed that 84% of Cuban Americans voted for him (they didn't).
Or when he claimed the $700 million saving when I got involved in the negotiation on the F-35 (those savings were made before he became President).
Or when he claimed that "It's gotten to a point where it [terrorist attacks] are not even being reported. And in many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn't want to report it.” (Untrue)
Or when he claimed 'The failing @nytimes was forced to apologize to its subscribers for the poor reporting it did on my election win.' (Never happened).
Or when he claimed that Sen. Richard Blumenthal “now misrepresents what Judge Gorsuch told him?” (The Gorsuch comments were later corroborated.)
Or when he claimed that the Obama administration allowed ISIS to happen because the U.S. shouldn't have been in Iraq. He went on to say that the administration created a vacuum from which ISIS was formed. (ISIS was formed in 2004, three years before Obama took office).
Or when he claimed that "Obamacare covers very few people — and remember, deduct from the number all of the people that had great health care that they loved that was taken away from them — it was taken away from them.” (Obamacare increased coverage by a net of about 20 million.)
Or when he said that he and the secretary general of NATO "had a productive discussion about what more NATO can do in the fight against terrorism." He went on to say that he "complained about that a long time ago and they made a change, and now they do fight terrorism.” (NATO has been engaged in counterterrorism efforts since the 1980s.)
Or when he said that he "want to help our miners while the Democrats are blocking their healthcare.” (The bill to extend health benefits for certain coal miners was introduced by a Democrat and was co-sponsored by mostly Democrats.)
Please let me know which bits are unwarranted criticism.

"There's nothing wrong with criticism but I have yet to see an anti Corbyn, anti Abbott group go about smashing stuff up around the country and inflicting violence on the opposition. "
Since it's the US, perhaps a fairer comparison would be an anti-Obama group, or call for demonstrations?

ummmm, indeed it is, but when I hear people saying, things like 'His poor wife doesn't want to be with him, she looks so bored', and SP’s “[Trump] is perpetually desperate for approval//, etc., I can't help thinking that such criticism really is unwarranted.... but perhaps it’s just me who gets the impression that some people are determined to leave no stone that can possibly be turned, unturned.
Jim, see above.
SP, I’m not sure all of that is correct or whether there’s a bit of spin put on it, but see above.

You can't use the names of certain characters and then tell me I can't answer using the same characters.
I don't like Trump but I can see a big difference in the criticism each receive.
A fair point Talbot, although I wasn't telling you that you couldn't use them. I think the point I was making in response to your last post was that I was dealing with the criticism Trump receives on AB as compared to others criticised here (eg Corbyn/Abbott); whereas your post seemed to be addressing violent anti-Trump protests, and I thought you were thinking of what went on in the US. In that case, protests at Obama's election *are* more appropriate a comparison, no?
jim; Hmmm, the guy can't seem to win with you can he? Well what about Trump Signing An Executive Order Directing The Justice Department To Cut Funding To Sanctuary Cities It’s good to see Trump taking steps to keep American citizens from being raped, robbed and murdered by illegal aliens who shouldn’t be in this country in the first place, isn't that right?

Of course, right wing pro-Trump sites have tried to debunk this, and Trump himself has said he's never even met the reporter in question, despite the fact that Kovaleski had covered Trump extensively while working for the Daily News from 1987 to 1993 and had interviewed and talked to the business magnate numerous times during that period.
But leaving that aside - what kind of grown up (a man in his SEVENTIES) does that when trying to make a point anyway?
It's the kind of thing you stop doing when you're about 15, right?
