And the mini bar.
agreed ummm, hotels for long stays are not suitable for little ones.

long story short (ish) when working in B&B, we had long-stay guests who had suffered severe fire-damage in their home. The couple were invited to use what ever the guest-house could provide, wash machine, iron etc etc and the kitchen facilities in the evening.
Insurance company were being snitty tho.
My honest response to AOG would result in me being banned.

But his answers take deluded to a whole new level.

Hotels come in many and varied qualities and facilities. Accommodating a family in a single room for a prolonged period is not a perfect situation.

The reasoning and circumstances of all the residents and neighbours is not known to the general public. They will have their reasons for making their decisions even if outsiders without first hand knowledge have different opinions.
I would not exchange the freedom of being able to cook my own lunch when I wanted to having to eat between given hours (bear in mind some are given a food allowance which doesn't touch hotel prices) - sitting on a bad or in a lobby with others walking by all day.
Having my children sleep in a room away from mine, so I couldn't hear them in the night.
One knock and a staff member/cleaner walks in.

It may sound luxurious to some, not to me.

As a lady says in that article, she thinks the Hotel has been wonderful and will write them a letter of thanks but she so wants to leave.

Sometimes I am staggered.

These people have lost EVERYTHING, through no fault of their own and have been through a hideously traumatic experience.

Working together the Council, insurance companies, landlords etc should do their utmost to ensure they are re-housed in suitable permanent accommodation asap. If some are in hotels (and I very much doubt it will be the Ritz) that will be awful. None of the stuff is their own, they will have no autonomy and are effectively dispossessed. Jeez, I normally hate staying in a hotel for a few nights, but I always have the knowledge that I can go "home".

I see the milk of human kindness is lacking in some areas.

And I agree Mikey, I hope for some sensible findings of fact so that justice is done.
Mamyalynne

Obviously you prefer to go self catering when on holiday?
It's not a holiday AOG! They have lost everything.
oh my, do you not understand AOG (oops, pardon me, Anotheoldgit)

they have lost absolutely everything.
Barmaid

I believe some have turned down other accommodation, obviously preferring their hotel stay.
Barmaid
/// It's not a holiday AOG! They have lost everything. ///

And who has said it is, or in fact denied that they have lost everything?
As it happens AOG I do, a beautiful country cottage with a garden and a roaring log fire if it's a winter break - but then we aren't talking about my holidays are we?
albaqwerty

Please don't apologise AOG is quite acceptable.
I understood (and I cant find a link) that some did turn down permanent accommodation in a high rise with potential cladding issues. Ungrateful so and sos that they are..............
If the offers relate only to temporary accommodation, would a lot of folk not rather stay in the current hotel instead of moving more than once until a permanent address can be arranged?
That's actually a fair point TCL.
AOG I am currently in a 4 star county hotel and no mini bar, I am sur those poor souls hotels are not as nice as this one unless of course you can provide evidence
You truly are shocking, AOG.
Mamyalynne
/// but then we aren't talking about my holidays are we? ///

I addressed you personally because you made a personal admittance when you typed:

/// I would not exchange the freedom of being able to cook my own lunch when I wanted to having to eat between given hours ///
You also have to take into consideration that these people have nothing. They have to start from scratch.

Can you imagine moving into a flat/house with nothing.
