No Ummmm, don't be silly. All AOG is bothered about is whether they get 4 meals, a mini bar and a bit of a jolly.
Yeah...like they'd have a mini bar. I can't remember the last time I stayed in an average hotel which had a mini bar.

I'm damn sure the hoteliers would have cleared the mini bar if they did have one...
Barmaid, you forgot to mention room service, free toiletries, slippers and fluffy robes.
AOG, if you see spending day after day , week after week stuck in a hotel room possibly with children as luxury then fine.

I don't see it as much more than existence - one thing that is upsetting many is the lack of information.

Assigned key workers asking the residents if they have any up to date news rather than the other way round.
It seems AOG is comparing it to a holiday without taking in to consideration that many of these people have very little funds to be able to leave their rooms.
Well surprise, surprise along comes Islay and her old side kick, ummmm.
Hahaha your so funny AOG
Even those who were working may not have been able to pay contents insurance.
Some who have been offered alternative accommodation may have turned it down for a variety of reasons. The media will only report whatever their agenda is

I doubt that those staying in hotels feel like they are 'free' citizens of this country.
Lol...I had to scroll back to find out what AOG was talking about....

/// AOG, if you see spending day after day , week after week stuck in a hotel room possibly with children as luxury then fine. ///

I don't know about luxury, but perhaps it is compared to living in an unsafe tower block with kids.
But my main point is, why have they turned down other accommodation when it has been offered?
Illegal sub-letters, illegal immigrants, refugees.
Why do middle class ABers presume to know their mindset?
ANOTHEOLDGIT, no doubt you have spent many a relaxing day or night in a hotel but I suspect that is through choice and you were on holiday or on a night out.

Compare that to folk whose flats have been destroyed. Compare that to folk whose loved ones have been killed by fire or smoke. Compare that to folk who know their loved ones jumped to their deaths.

Still think they enjoy their time in a hotel?
I've said before and will repeat myself, the person who turned down the offer of a ground floor flat - it was reported that it was turned down because 'he' could hear traffic noise'

He/they may have at some point been living in a ground floor flat and were burgled and so they don't want to go to a ground floor flat again.

Isn't compassion a wonderful, short-term feeling?
ummmm

Stop putting words into my mouth, I was not comparing it to a holiday, the holiday comparison was in reply to Mamyalynne's holiday preferences.

/// many of these people have very little funds to be able to leave their rooms. ///

Know that for certain do you?

Have they been sacked from their jobs, had their benefits stopped or even might have lost all their cash in the fire?
Your utter lack of compassion is shocking AOG. I hope this is simply a reflection of your on line persona and in real life you show more feeling and understanding for folk who have suffered so terrible due to no fault of their own.
I said 'seems' so stop twisting my meaning!

If some of these people are on income support what are they suppose to do all day?

No I don't expect those unfortunate people, will "enjoy their time", for years to come, no matter where they finally settle.
may I just ask a question?

Didn't the fire start with an appliance? Fridge or something?? (ok, that's 2 questions - I'll go for a third)

Surely the manufacturer of said appliance be blooming worried as well as them who said that the cladding was safe?
Fridge freezer I believe.
obviously I can't count, it's still an utterly horrific thing to happen to anyone
