There hasn't been much discussion about the Rohingya problem and Aung San Suu Kyi's continual silence. I think she should hand back her Nobel Peace Prize.
It was said on Radio 4 last week, that when she interviewed by one of the BBC's resident Muslim reporters, at the end of the interview, she was heard to say that "nobody told me that I was going to have to be interviewed by a Muslim"

like you know she kept mum for 25 y when she was imprisoned
I can see that a lady of discretion such as herself - her lips are sealed
I liked ' we have to find out why 1/2 a million people have upped and left the country. I mean I dont know - I really dont know'
First time I think a BBC canonised saint had really blotted her copybook - I dont think Lady DI and her greasy perfumed levantine did that - and certainly not Mugabe and his economic paradise which is Zimbabwe

I don't buy "prisoner of the military" I am afraid. Not as an excuse anyway.
She literally was a prisoner for years and it didn't stop her speaking out, and she was admired, rightly, for her bravery.
It has been suggested that she is simply a very stubborn person, and is in denial about what is happening. She either is being misinformed or chooses, for reasons unclear, not to face the uncomfortable facts. In the past she could speak out and everyone called her a hero. Now if she speaks out she will only be seen to be doing her job. Maybe that is not quite so attractive.
Whatever the reason, it has left her supporters abroad perplexed and disappointed. At the very least it is a failure of communication.

Mikey, //Aung San Suu Kyi's continual silence.//
She doesn't appear to be saying what you want to hear but according to this from 6 September she hasn't been silent. I thought you were a Guardian reader?

There's enough evidence from independent witnesses and victims to suggest that that is a pretty pathetic or naive statement from Aung San
How we sighed when we found out jolly Stuart Hall was a bit of a perv and lovable Rolf Harris felt up little girls.
Now it seems that an icon of the liberal west is not the princess perfect they thought she was.
You should be cheering :-)

No such thing as Rohingya Muslims.
There's a load of illegal muslim immigrants FROM Bangladesh who started slaughtering Buddhists and making demands (as they do in every land they infect) Now, they're getting their just desserts.
No surprise you've got the wrong end of the stick with the constant stream of lies coming from the Islamist BBC.

Innocent women and children getting their "just deserts" ?

\\The most recent Rohingya attacks used to be dated in 2016 but during the early hours of the 25th August 2017, up to 150 insurgents launched coordinated attacks on 24 police posts and an army base in Rakhine State, leaving 71 dead. This attack prompted the counterattack of the government forces which started the Rohingya crisis the mainstream media keeps talking about.//
\\The Rohingya were also responsible for an insurgency in western Myanmar from 1947 until 1961, after the insurgency was stopped the remnants of the Islamists rose up against the government again with guerrilla warfare.//
