as if it's not expensive enough. Surely there must be a better way to dispose of all these billions of coffee non disposable cups.

"...we are talking of 25p per cup, a not inconsiderable tax," It still won't stop people drinking it. If you have two a day five days a week it will cost you £32.50 instead of £30.00 (assuming £3 per cup). People shelling out thirty quid a week on coffee obviously have a bit of income to dispose of because there are far cheaper alternatives. That much extra over...

Perhaps Ummm prefers not to get involved in that nasty habit of talking about other people off line Bathsheba.
Why not message her and see what happens!
Eccles 14.32 What the flip has it got to do with you?
or you Islay?
rude or what!!!!
and what the f has it got to do with the rest of us or this thread? Nothing so stop it please!
Jack and emmie, don't worry if you can't drink while walking, there is a younger generation of man-bun wearing, bearded, bag carrying pretentious bankers that can and do. Oh also loads of other perfectly ordinary people who want to have a drink while they are out and/or like the taste of milky coffees
Big thumbs up for Bednobs.
the advent of the high street coffee shop is fairly new and the littering of the immediate and surrounding areas with empty cups is rife whether or not they are recyclable.. take your own cup for a discount can only help but for the take away customers who then discard without thought, is there a solution ? ..I rather doubt it unless the take away option is removed, and I don't think this will happen ..25p levy is nt going to stop this habit... oh for the days of the Wimpey where people sat down inside to drink..it was considered a rather vulgar habit to be seen eating and drinking on the hoof at one time... but times change...

..and I don't think the personal sniping has contributed anything useful to Emmie's thread either...
I love having a coffee (latte) when out shopping or meeting a friend for lunch, but I sit down with it as I don't like walking around drinking or eating ! I agree that something has to be done though, but I have no idea what.
That takes me back. I remember the Wimpy bars. Beefburger and a coffee, 10p.

MM
thank you, and indeed it hasn't added anything to this thread, its about the tax levy, nowt else.
Emmie I don't think 25p will make any difference at all..given the astronomical charge already, a typical takeaway customer will hardly notice... only those environmentally aware will bother and take their own cups.. I did read that the railways are going to offer discount on the trolley service for those who provide their own..
Why do people insist on using the word 'latte' when there is a perfectly good English word, 'milk'.
^^^ Because of how it's made and what it's made with...espresso coffee and steamed milk.
lol Jack on the very rare occasions I have gone into Costaplenty with mum I had not a scoobie what to ask for..the good old days of Wimpy were white or black !! ..I had the strawberry milk shake..and a knickerbocker glory when I was flush !! rather coveted the tomato sauce thingy !!
Question Author
as i said much earlier to NJ i don't think the 25p will make a difference but the government may just implement it, if they do that should go to the recycling plants who are able to recycle these coffee cups.
makes sense Emmie !
As Murray says, coffee and milk is white in English. Load of pretentious Italian cobblers if you ask me.
I call it latte because that is how it is described in coffee shops and indicates that I want a latte as opposed to a cappucino or whatever. Get off your high horse jackdaw, or stay there, I
don't really care.
Neither do I care, Snowflake.
