Yes, I am sure they can but given the propensity for racists to refer to black people as monkeys, perhaps the advertising agency would have done better to have given the campaign a little more consideration.

A bit of stupidity there considering that one of the biggest insults in the last 100 years has been to call a black person a 'monkey' and to tell the to 'go back to the jungle'
Surely anyone with an iota of sense will consider this very poor taste.

You would think this would have crossed someone's mind during the design, way before it was ready to be made and marketed.
It's a shame though that we have to be ultra-aware of race now, when usually people would never really notice. We seem to be going backwards.

I agree, pixie. I stopped calling cheeky kids little monkeys or cheeky monkeys years ago - I call them cheeky chops or little imps (in an affectionate way)

No its not on the back of the Tshirt but calling a black person a monkey and then adding that comment has been used as insults against them for years.
Therefore selling a tshirt with monkey on it is one step away imo!!

no they can't and as someone who dated a black guy some of the abusive proponents were police officers, back in the day when black people were thought of as apes, monkeys who should go back to the jungle. That attitude is still alive and well in some parts of the country.
