Regarding the shackled siblings...it doesn't bear thinking about. All I can think is "why?"

Poor signal?
Personal insults coming through yet again Jack !

We must be touching a raw nerve here !
islay you been on the gin again tch tch lol ;-) x
So funny how no one seems to have a mirror!
Voltage - not yet
Mikey - is that mirror a bit cloudy - Oh that's right you don't reply to me anymore your master has not given permission!!
Unless there are special circumstances, peculiar to the child and not the parents, I see no justification for home schooling.
Oh well never mind Jackdaw
Mikey....home schooling is not always one child educated by a parent or parents....I don't know if you read my previous post about this on your thread....
Home schooling is being taught out of "normal" schools and can be a small group of four or five...or more.... children taught by specialist teachers employed by the parents.....for say, three or four days a week......this works very well.....
The children....or young teens, as mine were, can have their interests and hobbies encouraged and by not being in a school for the prescribed hours...many of which are wasted.... have more time to widen their interests and interactions with others.....
They can mix with many other children from all walks of life if, for instance, they're athletic......even going on to being a champion athlete......or they can get involved in theatre groups (that's seeing life!)......Eisteddfod performances......Guiding or Scouts.....crafting days.....
They can even do this if their mother is a card carrying atheist and their father on the fence about God........
So please stop tarring us with this brush of yours......home schooling is not one or two sheltered and hidden away children mainly for religious reasons......honestly.... :-)

p.s......They can also have fantastic holidays during term time.... ;-)
Good job none of us have to 'justify' home schooling then isn't it Jack? Weren't you a teacher actually? That thought leaves me shuddering.
Oh I thought I read he was a lawyer and also that he was in the AirForce and now he may also be a teacher - what a varied life!
Kval.....sometimes teaching in our state schools is what makes you think.......Lord....there must be a better way..... ;-)
Gness...thanks...that was very informative, with no nastiness included....you get today's Gold Star for that!

But what about when the child is ready to go onto higher education and to prepare for those GCSEs and A Levels.

I can also see problems for some people, where they might have to go to work to bring more funds into the household. And some parents might lack the skills needed to teach children anything other than the basic 3 Rs.
Yes I was. Why that should leave you shuddering I have no idea. I was highly thought of. You can insult me all you like but it's water off a duck's back to me. Keep knitting your yoghurt and eating your Tibetan peace porridge.
Spot on, Islay, though there's no 'may' about it.
Agree there is home schooling and home schooling...can be wonderful or bleeping awful.... in the U.S. this was the occasion that it all went very wrong and provided the opportunity for terrible abuse..
Those emails are on overtime tonight!
