Let's assume for the sake of the argument that Corbyn could produce the money for this fanciful idea and take into public ownership 8000 houses for the homeless - if I was one of the many 1000s of people/families who have been patiently sitting on the council house waiting list, I'd be mightily peeved about Corbyn's largesse.

Pie in the sky
As usual never a word about where he will find the money from.

Mr Corbyn went on: "We would give local authorities the power to take over deliberately kept empty properties, because there is something grossly insulting about the idea you would build some luxury block and deliberately keep it empty.
I assume he letting Dianne Abbot come up with the costing!
At a time when Britain is seeing the number of rough sleepers in England rise for sixth successive year, at least he is saying that he will do something about the situation....isn't this a good move ?

An estimated 4,134 people bedded down outside in 2016, according to the snapshot survey, an increase of 16% on the previous year’s figure of 3,569, and more than double the 2010 figure.
Can I be controversial?
He is going to expect the hardworking taxpayers to stump up to house people that are homeless due to their life choices.
I appreciate that not all of them are on the streets of their own choice must a large amount are.
He can promise anything, he would never make good on any of it.

for once there is something to be said for what he is saying, that deliberately left empty properties should somehow be requisitioned...

The Magic Money Tree again?

He really should have had a Career as a Stand-up.
Ah yes ! The Magic Money Tree.

Is this the same tree that Theresa said didn't exist
( there is no Magic Money Tree) but was soon found enough, when she had to find a way to bribe the Bowler Hatted Bigots from NI to support her ?

Changing the subject again Mikey?
No, not at all Baldric....wasn't it you that first mentioned the MMT on this thread....let me just check.....?

Yes.....it was you !

Mikey, the thread is about

///Corbyn Promises Homes For The Homeless///

I simply questioned how they would be financed, but 'spin away'
I haven't spun anything. If you don't want anyone to respond to you posts, it might be best to just remain silent.

Labour will pay for this in exactly the way that he outlined....out of general taxation and making sure Local Councils have the ability to manage housing concerns within their own remits.

“We would give local authorities the power to take over deliberately kept vacant properties,” he told Andrew Marr.

Labour has also said that they will massively increase house building.

Tell me what the Tories are doing about this huge increase in homeless people ? Its happening on their watch after all.
Easy to make promises when you know that you will never be in a position to fulfill them.
//Can I be controversial?

Don't know about controversial. Heartless, unfeeling, unsympathetic, mean and down right wrong. But controversial? No.

You must have looked at a different link to the one emmie posted, there's no mention of how it would be financed there.
Local authorities already have the ability to take over empty properties.

What was the % of "immigrant homeless" in those figures? You know, off the radar when it suits the purpose .....but included in certain sets of figures when it is oil to the wheel? Meehh.
Corbyn.......somebody tell him, there are no Jewish homeless.
