Or is it simply a handy, pejorative term to label someone when the argument is being lost, what does it mean, and where would you apply it if at all?

I agree with him that terms like "racist" can be bandied about too freely, however his argument doesn't develop after that and he ends up falling into his own trap.
Wonderful artist, Morrissey, but ...
He seems to be campaigning to be head of Grammar Police (Spoken Word) for that London.

Gibbering loon.
Personally I think Morrissey has issues.

However on the the 'racist' or any other 'ism' I agree they are massively overused and as SP points out earlier it is now a lose/lose situation. Something I have pointed out a few times on here I believe.

Morrissey's a twit, but he has a point. If you want to discuss immigration in any terms other than how wonderful it is, you're a racist. etc etc.

The looney left invented this technique and it's come back to bite them on the 'arris - ie, 'You have anything vaguely negative to say about the state of Israel - you're anti-semitic'.
the bottom line is that "racist" is flung so readily that the label is now meaningless. Like the boy who cried wolf when a real racist emerges it goes unnoticed.
I would add ‘politically correct’ to the list of phrases which have been wrung of all meaning.

Just like ‘racist’ or ‘sexist’ or whatever, people on the other side of the fence use PC way too frequently. Basically, the term now mean, “Anything that can’t be labelled sexist, racist or homophobic”.

We may need new words soon.

Do they taste like chicken?
I don’t know I’ve never tried chicken didn’t want to choke on feathers (health & safety an all that), sounds nice tho.
hmm maybe time for culture change
Sri Lankans nice with a Ceylon tea and a Seren Dip
And a bit of Tamil Tiger sause, .........yummy
Being accused of being racist seems to be the worst thing in the world by the way some people go on about it. Forget rape or murder, say something out of turn to someone of a different colour then you are lucky not to be hung.
It's uses too much to shut down debate of any kind. Regardless of the merit to question someone if they are in any way a minority they only have to play the race card. And try to debate a sensitive subject without being called racist is almost impossible. Perhaps there should be a debate where a few specific terms chant be used. Maybe racist, sexist, politically correct for a start and see how the debate goes. Could be interesting!!

This is one of the reasons we are being used as the dumping ground for all the worlds flotsam and jetsam.

Legitimate refugees and those needing a safe haven are lumped in together with economic migrants, extremists and anti British terror groups because we cannot be seen to be distinguishing one from the other on grounds of race or religion.

Morrisey is a twank but he has a point.
//Morrisey is a twank but he has a point. //
