/// He has created and developed this 'man of the people' persona which chimes with a number of disaffected people who are frightened of what they see as a 'Muslim takeover', and are prey to a right-wing media that plays those fears like a violin. ///
Get real, they are already taking over, they are breeding more, and in some towns and cities they are quickly overtaking the indigenous citizens, since Islam came to these shores in the force that it has, we have seen terrorism and vast numbers of child grooming cases.
Are you naive enough in believing that in the future they will learn to integrate with our Western culture?

Talbot - // So you're not talking about people (which most folk would associate with xenophobia) you are talking about the xenophobia against the religion. //
You said to me, find an example of 'Tommy Robinson's' xenophobia, which I did, in about four seconds flat, and I posted it.
You now what to divert the debate into the semantics of what sort of a bigot 'Tommy Robinson' actually is. That is rather like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Never mind if he is a xenophobe or a racist - he doesn't like people who are a different colour, and who worship God in a different way, let's just agree to call him a bigot shall we?
Though I'm sure you would agree that Islam is a
Horribly misogynistic religion, andy?

Forgot the last bit - yes, I would agree, but then so is Christianity, and so are the majority of religions which are controlled by men.
Think of Catholicism, we as Westerners can't really be in the business of pointing fingers about misogyny - can we?

ummmm - // Only in your head, Andy, and it's starting to get really irritating. //
Not just in my head - it's on here too!
If people stop breaking the Rule, I will stop pointing it out.
It's really easy - avoid beginning a post with the word 'So' followed by something a poster has not said, followed by criticising / arguing with them about something they did not say.

In the history of the Catholic Church, laywomen and women in religious institutes have played a variety of roles and the church has affected societal attitudes to women throughout the world in significant ways. Women constitute the majority of members of consecrated life within the Catholic Church: in 2010, there were around 721,935 professed women religious.
There are women religious leaders in the Church of England, and don't the catholic Church worship the Virgin Mary?
Can't see anything like that happening with Islam.

er why andy? //
Because criticising someone, or arguing with them about something they have not said, but which the arguer has patently made up, defeats the entire concept of debate, and wastes site space.

I am not in the business of defending the misogyny existing in Islamic practices- merely pointing out the hypocrisy of the Christian church in general and the Catholic church in particular, in pointing the finger, and ignoring its own misogyny, which is as rife and as poisonous as anything Islam can offer.

volty - // rofl bit like yourself then .....i will stick to the joke section at least no one on there looks down their nose and thinks their better than me ...SO there! //
It's not 'a bit like myself' at all - I have never ever commenced a post with the word 'So', and I don't make up posts and then argue as though the poster has written them, and I don't look down on anybody.
