ALL NZ lamb is Halal and the majority of it is unmarked as such in the supermarkets.
A lot of unmarked chicken is Halal, too.
This is because there is a lot more to Halal meat than the slaughter method, so while the cuts Muslims will eat may be marked as Halal and stored and transported separately from other meats, the rest of the animal is not labelled as Halal.
New Zealand lamb is slaughtered using the Halal method because their biggest customers are Middle Eastern and it makes economical sense. They insist all the animals are pre-stunned.
So, just because the meat and poultry isn't being sold in the Halal aisle with a Halal label do not assume it is not Halal

jth; //Brietbart take a story of backyard-butchering in Dagenham and conflate it with barbaric practices elsewhere on the globe complete with gory pictures.//
Err.. I think the idea is to oppose the cruel slaughter of animals, whether it is Dagenham or Pakistan. Something I and many others wish to support and broadcast as widely as possible.
You, are obviously unconcerned about this barbaric practice, 'backyard-butchering in Dagenham' being a mere trifle, that is unless you, like a couple of others on this thread, simply wish to play the tiresome game of devil's advocate.

Back to the thread then.
//Authorities have confirmed that environmental health officials are investigating after they were sent footage of a family chopping up animal carcasses on a tarpaulin outside their house in Dagenham.
Neighbours alerted the council after they saw large quantities of raw meat being hacked in the backyard of a residential address in the London borough//
Wonder if the hygiene police will get on thes case?
Meanwhile in France...…….and probably heading your way.

I see that some have decided to defend the unnecessary butchery in a residential back garden. Wonder what the view would be if I decided to pluck and prepare a few dozen turkeys this Christmas...….you know as part of the festive ritual? Bet questions would be asked about my disposal methods of any waste, whether I had food handling proficiency certification etc. etc.
Khandro - You obviously failed to read my comment at 14.31 why I lay my cards firmly on the table regarding both halal and kosher animal-slaughter.
Breitbart has deliberately juxtaposed the article regarding the Dagenham (where there is no evidence of any sort of slaughter, halal or otherwise) backyard food preparation with horrifying pictures of animal slaughter from elsewhere in the globe. The addition of those photographs certainly adds a little more *spice* to the Dagenham non-event, doesn't it?
