What next will Muslim women be able to wear their Burkas while serving in HM Forces? After all Sikhs are allowed to wear their turbans.

Why does cultural or even religious bias have to be accommodated in certain situations!?? Whatever one is doing it should be relevant to the circumstances, not given to bias in any form! The Scouts, girl guides and Brownies are from here....we should NOT give in to religious or cultural thoughts IMO. What most people don't think of is....wht other countries...

\\As for being able to swim in her burka according to AOG women float in Victorian clothing so a light burka shouldn’t be an issue//

they may FLOAT but can they swim to a child that is drowning..?

these are paddling, NOT swimming and are not wearing anything like a burqa.

.......but WHY do we even have to consider the alternative. Back 'in the day' we did not need to consider the immigrants who invaded our shores (in my opinion) haven't a clue. Get real guys... Multiculturalism does not work and if you rely delved into it....it's nothing but life....it's about ech nd everyone one of us as to how we were brought up!

If you cannot accept that...I feel sorry for you. Don't bringing more and more immigrants. Not good for the economy and not good for the indigenous people who are trying to survive
Never been treated, or had a close family member treated in hospital then, dunnitall?
Andres. It was part of a block of 7 restaurants all of which had external drinking areas and all were busy. The woman on a plan incident had more to it than meets the eye. I’d flown there on Emirates airline and the drink was fairly free flowing.
It most definitely is about how we were brought up - politeness for one.

Others here have expressed concerns about this ladies garb preventing her from performing certain tasks - many have managed to voice it perfectly well without being objectionable.

Why couldn't he do that?
mamya, according to this article, it wasn't just this lady he was rude about.
He could have raised his concerns without resorting to personal insults.
I think its sad really.....He wants things his way and only his way. All the practical knowledge and volunteering in the world won't contribute to the Scout and Guide movement without manners and empathy.
Sadly Mr Walkers skills and experience are wasted in the Boy Sprouts,
He would of been well advised to have offered his vast experience and skills in a more military orientated youth organisation like the ATC, AFC or Sea Cadets. My Instructors who taught me to shoot to competition standard and obtain my BGA gliding licence would be turning in their graves. As for his so called rudeness? Piffle. When my first landing of three on my solo flights was more a crash landing then you would understand, the comments of the senior instructor ,, what real rudeness was. I was sixteen at the time. All of my Training instructors in the ATC were ex servicemen and we were treated as adults. Not snowflakes. Thank my God that no one wearing a Burqua is allowed to join the RAF and instruct a young person in flying.
I know the difference between expletives etc uttered under duress and someone who can't have a polite conversation, nothing at all flaky here I promise you.
Oh heck...
"Keeping things in proportion" seems to have left the building.....
Apropos
As a coincidence I will be a guest of the Artist Rifles shooting club for the next three days at Bisley.I will be competing in the PSUK national competition as a result of tuition and skills I learnt from a useful skilled ex serviceman in the ATC. I am now 67yrs and I don't think a face veil will assist me in my endeavours
Good luck in the competition, enjoy.
I see the usual illogical leaps have occurred.
Keeping thing in proportion doesn’t work when you are angry and scaremongering though !
Thanks Mamyalynne
Not totally optimistic but always enjoy the company of experts. Bit out of practise since hospital admissions. :-)
It's the excitement.
Self-agrandisement seems to be the order of the day with just a soupçon of 'on-topic' comment to justify the post...
Reverting to type perhaps, JTH?
Oh boy . Can see the sharks circling or is it the coven. I'm out of here.Bye
