Is the world going mad?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6195853/Credit-Suisse-boss-dresses-woman-slammed-appearing-100-women-list.html

I suspect I'm going to be lambasted by some, but this is absurd isn't it?

I can't get on board with all this 'gender fluidity' nonsense, and therefore this story would normally amuse me, but the fact that people are taking this sort of patent ridiculousness seriously suggests to me that people are losing the plot.

Some people are becoming so achingly right-on that they're endorsing rubbish like this - I genuinely find it head-scratching.

If Billy Vunipola decides that at the next women's rugby world cup he's going to 'identify' as a woman for the duration, would he be allowed to play? And if not, why not?

Can I self-identify as a woman on Monday evening when I go swimming, because there's an absolutely stunning yummy-mummy that goes, and I'd like to see her getting changed? And if not, why not?

Yes, my tongue is firmly wedged in my cheek - but I think it has to be when faced with this sort of total cobblers.

Pixide am I getting my terms mixed up? I thought sex was what was declared when you are born (basically and in most cases penis/no penis) and gender is what you feel yourself to be...if the list in question is sex specific then why is India Willoughby getting excited?
This is a list for women- with two men on it.
I have just googled India Willoughby and I have no idea. Have you?
You get this absurdity when society, or some of it, denies reality and reverts to newspeak. He has a penis so must be female and so eligible. We shall fight the oppressors for his, sorry her, right to have babies, too.
because she is transgender...... if the list is based on sex, ie penis/no penis at birth, then genuine transgender women are ruled out for ever....which is why I asked if it was time to do away with such gender based awards....I think that for sex based awards (PNPAB) the ship has sailed.
Got a headache just reading this. Ridiculous but even worse, unfair.
I KNOW the world's not fair but this is deliberate!!
Where's the kettle.
I don't think so, woof. We haven't moved past sexist stereotypes (and this just solidifies them), maternity, childcare, the glass ceiling, sex pay gap, natural reluctance to hire someone who might one day get pregnant etc... anywhere near enough for women to be able to fairly compete with men. That is why there are separate categories. And none of the men on this list have had to manage any of that. Just an ability to walk in high heels.
A separate category for transgender, maybe. But they are not and never will be women.
LB, the worst thing is that every political party is too scared to stand up to it.
Pixie, he is only transgender when it is advantageous to him.
Women have had to fight long and hard to compete with men in all areas.

It is ridiculous that someone deserving has been usurped by a man who chooses to dress as a woman.
Yes, exactly Danny. His "identifying as a woman" means dressing as a parody of a prostitute. Sometimes. And if we don't take it seriously, we are bigoted.
True Pixie. Sigh!
They are reinforcing the stereotypes that women have spent the last 100 years trying to get away from. It is now almost a definition.
On the plus side of this and similar situations, it is extremely gratifying to see that mental illness is no longer a barrier to advancement in business and other areas of employment.
Is there someone in the list who has struggled with mental health issues?
Yes, but there has been a 4000% (literally) rise in teenage girls wanting to be men, because they are sick of harassment.
Have you seen this?

It's society that needs changing, not these people.
I think there are two discussions here...one is whether this particular person is taking advantage (and I suspect that he/she is) and the second one is whether gender specific awards should now be being phased out...as female cis gender who has lived through the 70's I agree that women in business have had (may still have, I am not sure) a harder row to hoe than their male counterparts...I suspect that "genuine" transgenders in either direction won't have had an easy path either. I do think though that women, either born or made aren't doing themselves any favours by supporting the idea of women only business awards. There will always be the subtext that they are women only awards because they can't compete with the men.
Tilly2

She is what I choose to refer to her as.
They can't, woof. We all know that. Even the specifically female awards have been encroached by men.
I have seen it now and wish I hadn't..... Pixie can I ask where you get your statistics from please?
