I guess the EUSSR are too close to it all, to see they are, in some measure, analogous to the USSR.

“The most puzzling development in politics during the last decade is the apparent determination of Western European leaders to re-create the Soviet Union in Western Europe.” Mikhail Gorbachev

There isn’t an ‘exodus of countries leaving’ tho.
I suggest you read Ellipsis’s Bloomberg link, which is informed and fair
Just because Gorbachev says it doesn’t make it right: This was a man who tried to preserve the Soviet Union through reform so that comment of his is a rather puzzling one
Ask them for cheaper beer, please, ttt.

BA togo, if it's good enough for Gorby...etc
ich "There isn’t an ‘exodus of countries leaving’ tho. " - YET! they are waiting for brexit to see what happens.
To nobody's great surprise, that Gorbachev is unsourced.

(... and is therefore very likely made up).
^ Snopes? Lol.
so it does, i couldn't agree more with his sentiments, though i am aware that many would disagree.

I can't find a source for it anywhere. If you have one, do share.
Are they now tora? You know that do you :-)
The fact is that the EU has a much more stronger attraction politically on mainland Europe than it does here. What has caused most strain is the issue of immigration and war refugees - which of course was never a problem the USSR ever had. There they built walls to keep people in not out: never a good sign ...
Haha Ta TTT. Mrs Meerkat isn't going to like this "compare the (Common) Market" to other organisation dot cons. is she? How she must wish that they had an army of millions to threaten the dissenters just like the original Soviet State did.(Remember Hungary). They don't have the "manpower", nor you may think millions of young able bodied men with no discernable employment or train and equip. They certainly wouldn't likely find them amongst the indigenous European populace would they. However have there not recently just been millions of just such young able bodied men imported into the EUSSR? Maybe that is the ultimate plan. Why not persuade them to take on the role of EUSSR enforcers with the promise of a stake in the future of the ponzi scheme? An EUSSR army(which they greatly covet) in the making. The new Mamaluk army of conquest and enforcement anyone?
I think you mean: ‘How “I” wish it was like that’ lol

I stopped being able to follow that incoherent rant about three lines in.

The hysteria over the EU from some quarters is really pathetic. No it's not like the USSR in any way, shape or form. Hunt is showing terrible judgement in so doing, and you're showing typically extreme paranoia in supporting him.
I can't see a source on there.
Does it matter whether Gorbachev said it or not? He was good while he lasted but I wouldn’t set much store by anything he said now
That still isn't a citation, though, is it Danny? Just a repetition of the same quote, without any proper credible source.
Nothing like Europhiles riled :-)

jim: "The hysteria over the EU from some quarters is really pathetic" - as is the blind belief that we must be in it with no coherent explanation why and the continual dismissal of non believers as somehow less intelligent.
