Poor bloke that would be very scary for him. I should imagine he will now no longer drive on the roads, but he doesn't really have to anyway, there's always someone who'll drive him. 97 is definitely too old to be driving, imo.
"A statement from Norfolk Police about the incident, read: "The driver of the Kia, a 28-year-old woman, suffered cuts to her knee while the passenger, a 45-year-old woman, sustained a broken wrist."
After they collided with Prince philip, but these injuries are apparently simply "minor" even though both cars rolled and philip had to be dragged out of the car.
"...but these injuries are apparently simply "minor" "
But they are minor injuries, spathi. The collision seemed quite violent but thankfully nobody was seriously hurt, I don't quite know what your point is.
My point is, i think philip should have offered to help out the other party involved in the accident.
I'm sure they weren't 97.
A broken wrist can easily escalate, and if the person is old, may never heal.
If philip broke his wrist, it would never heal really.
I'm fascinated by the fact that there are so many AB users who are familiar enough with Prince Phillip's driving to know that's he's no longer fit to drive.
IE, instead of getting a brand new car delivered to him hours later, maybe he should take some time to think about why they crashed.. To be fair though by now he's probably forgotten.
I can't say that I've ever seen a 97-year old driving but I have seen 20-year olds and 40-year olds driving and some of them haven't impressed me. Are all old drivers the same? Have you ever had an accident?
Being old affects mobility, reaction times, your compos mentis.. Bring those to a country road in a metal tin going 60 down a lane just big enough for the vehicle, there is no surprise he collided with someone else.
I wish we had more info, IE, it must be someones fault!

But he didn't do that. Read the report properly and take notes. It strikes me you don't like the idea of 97 year olds being allowed to drive. I don't like the idea of 17 year olds being allowed to do so either but sometimes you have to put up with things you don't like.
Collisions like this happen hundreds of times a day across the country. It seems (though we don't know for sure) that the Duke made an error. But so do thousands of other drivers every year.
