Phil The Greek's pranged his Lard Rover ...there's got to be a joke in that.
"At 17 the risk of mind being not stable"

What leads you to believe Prince Phillip's mind is not stable?
/My point is, i think philip should have offered to help out the other party involved in the accident.
I'm sure they weren't 97.
A broken wrist can easily escalate, and if the person is old, may never heal. /

He had just been dragged out of a rolled car, he was shaken and shocked (understandable for ANYONE involved in such a collision); he enquired after the other people who were being helped by other passers by. What else was he meant to do?

As for getting a new vehicle you will quite probably find that it is an estate vehicle rather than HRH's personal run around, it will be part of "the fleet" and I rather suspect that the replacement vehicle will be part of the Fleet Management arrangement they have.

I also disagree that at 17 there is less chance of the mind being unstable. Age and lack of stability do not go hand in hand. Unless there is a condition such as dementia or alzheimers most elderly people are sharp as a tack. And in fact that are far more aware of their own mortality than your average 17 year old!

Incidentally, you seem to be overlooking the fact that the incident occurred at an accident black spot; in other words, lots of accidets occur there, probably due to people speeding on the main road (hence the speed limit being reduced). What speed was a Kia going to have the energy to knock over a 2-ton Land Rover?
Spath, you wrote...

//You have to remember, less data for 97 year old drivers because .. well .. there is only about 3 of em!//

You really should checck your figures.

How nice of Theresa May to send best wishes to the Duke of Hazzard, but no mention of the two ladies and the nine month old child in the other car , Typical Con.
With the arguments that Spath is putting forward about the mental capacity of old people compared to that of young people, I think he is treading dangerous ground.
"What leads you to believe Prince Phillip's mind is not stable?"

The fact he is 97 and recently got into a car crash that could of been a LOT worse than it was.
Well she knows HRH. I doubt she knows the other people.
Maybe she did send good wishes to them but it hasn't been reported
"What speed was a Kia going to have the energy to knock over a 2-ton Land Rover?"
So fast it was invisible to the Duke as he pulled out onto a main road! Wonder if he'll face charges of dangerous/careless driving if he was the cause of the accident?
My next-door neighbour's son is 18, and was bought a car by his parents (the 4th car in the family) he passed his test, and last month, in the first week of driving on his own, he moved out from the village into a main road, and caused a three vehicle crash, his car being a write-off along with one of the others.
I asked him what happened and he said, "I just didn't see the other cars" - it was in broad daylight!

Dad has bought him a new car btw.
Elliemay; That would definitely have been reported - if only by the PR staff at number 10.
He is 97 and had an accident therefore he is mentally unstable?!

Can you tell me at what age his mind became unstable? Do all people become mentally unstable at that age?
Lol well said ken
The Duck can't be blamed, it was the other drivers fault for not warning the Duck about the low winter Sun blinding him. No prosecution will follow. Strings pulled and all that.
Ken - if you look at the overhead pictures of the crash site you will see there is a bend in the road just before the junction. Not right on top of the junction, to be fair, but close enough for a car travelling very quickly to be out-of-sight of the junction at the time the duke pulled out.
Barmaid - No, it seems from Khandro's example that we all become mentally unstable at 18.
Maybe he’s simy too comfortable behind the wheel, evident by him already having a new car.

“At 17 the risk of being a hothead driver, is a LOT more than at 97.”

Yep, agree.. but one reason is the amount of 17 y/o drivers compared
Maybe the duke pulled out so slowely, you know, just how they do on roundabouts, that the other car had no chance

“Grampa it’s give way to the right”

“By the time i got there he’ll be on me left”
