I feel quite bad for Scotland, being dragged through this political mess. If they had their independence vote pursued a wee while back, then there would be no question Scotland could stay in the EU.
//The SNP leader will also launch a "Made in Scotland" festival of theatre, dance and music performances in Belgium.//

How predictable that she wants to make a song and dance of it...
spath, as an independent nation Scotland would have to apply to join the EU. It couldn't just 'stay in'.
I'm sure they would be accepted, due to their history of being part of the EU.
Wouldn't they have to join the Euro, then help bail Greece out?
Oh well if you're sure spath ....
Seems common to find leaders going cap in hand to the EU. They ought to have more gumption.

more importantly
2. Scotland is not an independent nation

Scotland is just as much a part of the UK as is any other region.
Discussing this is only falling into the trap beloved by Scottish separatists that is, adding credence to their erroneous claims.
They too had a referendum, and the outcome was to remain in the UK and all that it entails.

Scotland has many problems; unemployment, drugs and crime etc. and as first minister it is these she should be addressing, not running around in the EU on a fool's errands,

Khandro,,,,,,, Scotland is a country, not a region .
Scotland is not an independent country or state, and neither are Wales, Northern Ireland, or England itself. However, Scotland is most certainly a nation of people living in an internal division of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
I'm pleased that the crime rate appears to be dropping, if she stops wasting her time in Brussels and concentrates more on it that, they will possibly improve further still.
Question Author
