Who knows what went through his head when he stupidly turned his back on them at the beginning of the clip? I believe he was in danger of no more than a good kicking, to be honest. No doubt he will exact revenge next time he is on duty facing the protesters.

It related. It's about trying to circumvent the two systems agreement. Mainland China isn't trusted and the attempt to get Hong Hong residents extradited to the mainland where no one trusted what would happen to them.

Anyone with any sense should have got out by now, but it's not easy to emigrate to nations that see no value in welcoming more incomers.

anyone remember Mrs Pandit ? (*) She was traipsing around the colonial office in the sixties saying that the India Office had betrayed XYZ and Mrs Pandit of course, along with the Independence of India Act 1947 . And the British govt unsurprisingly did not give a toss.

I have met no Indian or Pakistani who thought they were better off under the British such is the draw of 'Freedom!'

Egyptians - yes a lot - in 1956 ( this is a reprise of a post no one read the last time) Egypt had the highest standard of living in the arab world and by 1980 it was the lowest ( oil really )
This was coupled with the idea that Nasser was an incorruptible member of the Young Officers - and er was the only one. Sadat ( assassinatedd 1980 ) was one of the them, I learnt later
So there was an idea that Egypt was better place under the British.
