Still doesn't make it true spath.
//and as evry reader will confirm, not every crime reported to the police results in any action at all//

Not all crime reported to the police is a crime.

Spath, the fact that the burqa is banned in several islamic countries would suggest it's more than a religious symbol, don't you think?
Sorry, I'm heading back in time a little, but wanted to mention this...

//Not nearly enough Islamophobia in the Tory party for my liking.//

What are you looking for exactly VE? Council sponsored mosque burnings? Ripping burqas off of women forcefully? What a preposterous thing to say, even in jest.
You're not strong on subtlety and finesse. Mozzie, are you?
You forgot the 'So', mozz.
//You're not strong on subtlety and finesse. Mozzie, are you?//

Sorry, it was bugging me. It just seemed like such an idiotic comment to make. I overreacted.
//You forgot the 'So', mozz.//

Sooooooo....
Can't interpret your last post, Mozzie.

My deliberately provocative one-liner was trying to get sensible people thinking about Islam's contribution to modern European culture and why it is disproportionally bad.
Spath
Read this. Educate yourself and then tell us the Burqua is a religious garment/requirement. You are plainly wrong. The Burqua is never mentioned in the Quoran. There are instructions about modest conduct and covering of womens chest area but not the face.

I don't think Spath can separate himself sufficiently from his conditioning to understand, far less consider, my question

I was trying to excite intelligent people's curiosity.

You left a carrot in other words.

*eats carrot*
I'll try one last time, Mozz.

If your next door neighbour wore a burqa how do you think you might interact with her?

How might you.interact with her husband?

How do you think her husband feels about your wife and daughters who wear short skirts and low-cut tops on hot weather?

Do you understand this question?
Is the fact that 4% of the population in some areas is responsible for 80% of rapes an interesting statistic?

If not; why not?
Honestly? The same way I would with anyone else. I don't care about religion, as long as they are pleasant people, I have no issue. If they are assholes, regardless of their faith, ill have nothing to do with them.

As for their thoughts on my family's dress. If they keep their thoughts to the selves, I don't really care. If they don't, then they qualify as assholes, and see above.
It should not be about what men might think of women, in any case. It should be personal choice- and it is inhuman (literally) to cover your face when communicating with people. It goes against every instinct. Spath, I would still like to see your reasons why you would be personally happy to have your face covered in public?
*ahem* "themselves"

//Is the fact that 4% of the population in some areas is responsible for 80% of rapes an interesting statistic//

If the "fact" was true it would be truly worrying, but it appears to be BS.

Did I read this in the link you kindly provided, Mozz:

"The more open a European country is to Muslim mass migration, the more dangerous it is to women."
ut, of course, everybody knows that.

It comes down to to whether you think the duty of kindness to Muslim immigrants outweighs the duty to protect your (but more typically other people's) daughters.
I dare say that is a finely balanced argument by the lights of AB's brightest and best.

Not in my case it ain't.
