Jim360 - “The defeat, such as it was, owes more to the leaders of the Remain campaign than it does to the rank- and- file, anyway.” I vehemently disagree. While the leaders of the Remain campaign were, for the most part, doom- mongering, lying catastrophis ts, it was the rank- and- file 'C' and 'D' list remoaners in the main-stream media that really put the...

Perhaps, Shoota, but it would be nice for someone to show me so, rather than merely assert it without any justification.
There was never any question of the EU either being now, or becoming possibly in the future, a tyranny. And, what is more, there was never any need even to *pretend* so in order to argue in favour of leaving.

Plus, you must concede, far fetched as it seems at the moment, if the wrong people are allowed into power in Brussels true tyranny would be easy to achieve, especially if the Euro army becomes a reality. //
Stuff and nonsense.
A bit of tyranny going in France for the past year or so.
Police battering firefighters in France in 2020.

This completely my stance too Jim. I honesty believe we're shooting ourselves in the foot, but I hope to feck I'm wrong about it all. In 5 years time, I don't want to be saying "I told you so".
Just to add, this is why people like Gully and Diddles grind my gears. I'm pretty sure they would happily see the country suffer in order to be proven right.

Yippee we are out.
Pity the Metropolitan elite braodcasters didnt see fit to broadcast Tim and Niges speeches but there we are, just more swamps to drain.
But for the rest of us upward and onward lets all make this Country great(er) again. We are more than capable and still one of the biggest and trusted economies in the world despite the doom mongers.

I have no intention of going quietly into the night, Naomi. It shouldn't be a question of winning or losing, anyway. It's a question of what was the better decision for our country. On that we disagreed, but we still made the decision we did in favour of what we hoped was the best outcome.
