" In Philip Schofields case it's more of a thing because it's taken him 40 years"

That's not fact though. For all we know he may have only become homosexual in the past, say 5 years or even ten.

Until Philip himself says that he has been homosexual all of his life then evidence would suggest the opposite, that he used to be attracted to women which would explain the wife and kids.
//There's an expectation that you're heterosexual by default unless you declare otherwise. //

But so few care any more, is there any point in broadcasting it?
"is there any point in broadcasting it?"

Evidently, and if you watch the video I provided you'd see why Philip felt that he needed to share the news.
TD, //For all we know he may have only become homosexual in the past, say 5 years or even ten. //

Why do you care? It's his business.
Naomi - // But so few care any more, is there any point in broadcasting it? //

As I, and others have pointed out, it gives the individual a level of control over their life that would be denied them had the information come out via another source.

As for 'so few caring' - I think that is actually the opposite of the situation - millions of people care!

They absolutely shouldn't, but they absolutely do.
He's shared it so I know. I've neither need nor desire to watch the video.
That to TD.^
Spelling police alert!! What does "comming" mean?

No different to parrot phrase(paraphrase).
Apologies Bobbi, the grammar Nazi is getting his coat......!
Do people not think Phillips fans deserved to know?
"Why do you care? It's his business."

Why don't you care? He's offered this information for us to take. You have taken it yet you're acting like you haven't then saying to us who are acknowledging the news "why do you care?" Do you really want to know or are you attempting to be superior?

If you don't care naomi, why comment?
In his case there is a point because he's a public figure, so I'm guessing he wants to diffuse the effect of the gutter press rifling through his bins or getting a picture of him with his trousers down and broadcasting it unexpectedly on his behalf.

In the case of non famous people there's no broadcasting involved. Coming out just entails telling your family and friends.
Haha, I like my version better CD
But no worries , lol
I don't think his fans deserved to know it's nothing to do with anyone else outside of his family.
"He's shared it so I know. I've neither need nor desire to watch the video."

He shared the video, so I know why he needed to share it?

Right...

Then why do you say "is there any point in broadcasting it?"

As I say...

Watch the video and you'll find out.

But you know he shared the video?

Right... lol lol lol
No they don't need to know!
"I don't think his fans deserved to know it's nothing to do with anyone else outside of his family."

Right..... LMAO. This is all brilliant!
HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHA oh my. I'm going to have to have a lay down.
^Good thinking.

It might be because he was heading off something.

A couple of months ago Gareth Thomas revealed that he was HIV positive after he found out that a tabloid newspaper was going to print the story.

Sometimes celebrities are advise to 'get ahead of the story', rather than react to it.

I'm not saying that this is what's happening here, but it *is* a possibility.
When you say nobody cares anymore you're speaking for yourself and maybe a handful of people who you know, Naomi.

People do care. My son was in turmoil coming out. He knew his dad and I wouldn't mind but he was very unsure of the reactions from the rest of our family.

Although he hasn't encountered much homophobia he has been called derogatory names.

Jordy - I know your feeling on the subject and I understand them because many people feel the same way. I very much doubt you'd be nasty to someone though.
