I’m rather surprised no one has raised this ;-)

I don’t know whose side to take here other than to note that the Home Secretary is a proven liar ...
Which may or may not be relevant.
It also seems that the PM and the Cabinet Secretary had indeed intervened in this dispute, as so they ought.
And yet ...

She will an emigrant Home Secretary before too long I suspect
This doesn't sound like it ichi, also from the DT;

Boris Johnson yesterday praised Priti Patel as a "fantastic" Home Secretary as it emerged a complaint was said to have been made about her conduct as a minister four years ago.

The Prime Minister moved to dispel speculation that Ms Patel could be ousted in the wake of her most senior civil servant's resignation at the weekend, saying she had his "absolute confidence".
Rutnam has previous.....he was instrumental in the sacking of Amber Rudd when she tried to sort the Home Office sewer out. Good riddance. Now get Simon McDonald and Stephen Lovegrove out of the system and replace them with honest people.
Question Author
Well the PM has spoken so it must be so :-)
Question Author
Rather than take a fat payoff or a cushy sideways appointment, as usually happens in these cases, Sir Philip has decided to take the risk of going to court.
Which is interesting ...
Hell hath no fury like a quisling scorned!
Perhaps Boris should arrange for him to "go to court" over the lies he incubated stating that Patel had been barred, by MI5, from viewing their most sensitive files. A theory that was almost uniquely and officially denied by MI5. Creepy Rutnam subsequently gave a tearful(bless) press conference denying responsibility. He would would he not. If he didn't personally leak the false information then one of his senior cohorts did.......That makes him responsible however much he twists in the wind trying to avoid the chill winds blowing his way. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Did MI5 official deny the claim or was it from an MI5 source?
"Officially"
Question Author
Well, as I said above, he’s chosen to take the matter to court, where a lot of these issues will come under the spotlight.
Question Author
It wasn’t even an MI5 spokesperson who denied it, whether true or not, but a “security spokesperson”
Which is meaningless
Ohh No....I thought that MI5 gave the names, addresses, email, and phone numbers of all it's operatives and officials. How disappointing.
// if she has annoyed someone in the "metropolitan elite"*, but that's broken logic.//

then hey it is right at home on AB !

I have worked OK "worked" with people and their secret agenda,
and after a while you find it a waste of time to discuss and meet because no matter what they say - you find that they have followed their own agenda
such as - they have acted against the interests of the group....

apparently sir P had a home office agendy that perhaps he followed too obviously and Priti got pretty angry
esp if it is " well priti you are here today and gone tomorrow and I have real work to do planning"
TOGO, what made the MI5 statement official? What if the claim that they had been holding back information was the "official" statement?
well said PP, I don't think Sir, would last very long in the real world of business or finance with his waspish, girly ways.
Question Author
If Sir Philip isn’t in the “real world” then by definition neither is the Home Secretary :-)

No one really knows exactly what has been going on, but as I indicated above, at least now it’s going to court everything will be in the open, although maybe not the MI5 stuff :-)
// Sir Philip has decided to take the risk of going to court.//

didnt Boris do this a few years ago - Icant work with so and so
and the so and so resigned and recovered mega moolah in damages

BUT in the real world = there is a huge amount of case law on this and only 2% of claims in this category succeed .....
Question Author
Indeed.
Which only makes my point for me: it’s a heck of a risk so why take it and don’t tell me it’s naivety because I don’t won’t believe you
Question Author
He’s taking this to court I think because he knows a lot will come out. Win or lose
//He’s taking this to court I think because he knows a lot will come out.//

If it gets to court............. Will MI5 be arranging his chauffeur?
