President Takes Anti Malarial - Is Dettol Next?
144 Answers
The President cleared the room when he admitted taking hydroxychloroquine.
He had also found a doctor to prescribe it
and MY question is : if a relative did that and died - would you complain to the authorities ( GMC and courts here ) that the doctor had NOT acted in the patients ( your relative that is!) best interests and should pay you ( the estate ) much moolah and lose his licence
Note to help posters - hydroxyChlor does NOT have a licence to be used in warding off covid

Meanwhile back in the real World the UK places an order for £35million worth of hydroxychloroqine.
I dont think this can have been on scientific advice. But do the mandarins listen to scientific advice? according to NJ they dont and shouldnt - well thank God for that ! and that would allow a mandarin in his lunchbreak to tippedy tip out and place the order,
on the excellent non eek grounds of - if it works then 5000 (non-quantifiable) lives saved and a knighthood for him - well deserved too!
and if it doesnt work he can pass it off as wall-paper for Frogmore cottage and get Meghan to pay over 15 y
and who needs a maff modeller ? shoot them all

there is one where they exclude the ones who drop out ( in other words dont follow - "intention to treat" - ) and say the ones that are left arent in too bad shape
a commentator er commented - not difficult to show a benefit if you have excluded those who died
"shortens illness" I have always thought was a bit of cop out

‘ However, evidence regarding its effects in patients is limited.’
‘ Trump began hyping hydroxychloroquine on March 19, at a White House news conference with his coronavirus task force. “I think it’s going to be very exciting,” Trump said. “I think it could be a game changer and maybe not. And maybe not. But I think it could be, based on what I see, it could be a game changer. Very powerful.” He suggested, inaccurately, that the F.D.A. had approved the drug for use against Covid-19. He made no mention of azithromycin. Commissioner Stephen M. Hahn of the F.D.A. gently corrected him later and said that a large clinical trial would be the appropriate way to evaluate the therapeutic value of the drug.
