The damage being done to our economy is incalculable yet I see people in the street being interviewed on the news saying they accept it and its nessasary and they will comply and some saying it doesn't go far enough. Do these people understand how the economy works? I seriously doubt it. The only people who dare mildly disagree are the business owners of bars and restaurants who are in real danger of having to close down permanently. When the tsunami of unemployed start rolling down the track after furlough is ended, these same people who are calling for the lock down to continue will then be blaming the government for the increase in unemployment. I really do despair.

In my dictionary (Chambers) "draconian" is defined as "very severe" which is what the proposed measures are.
Diddly, if you think our rules are very severe, I suggest you check out other countries. would you like to be confronted by armed police because you walked to the end of your lane, and demanded that you return home. And would you like to have proof in writing when you had to go to the GP or dentist and only one person from a family could travel in a car to get shopping. You would be locked up by now!
I'm very aware that restrictions are far tougher in France and Spain as I have close friends in both countries. That doesn't alter my feelings about the absurd new rules here in the UK.

No I wouldn't. And if that happened here there really would be an uprising. But that apart, I wouldn't be able to get police out to my house if it was being burgled. I'm hardly likely to be troubled by them if I should happen to pop out without an excuse.
Pop out without an excuse?

You mean you’re not restricted to home after all NJ? Well, blow me dahn wiv a fevver Guv.

I would like to know how many on here who support these lock downs are in work with a mortgage and bills to pay and their job is at risk because of it, or have offspring in that position. Try telling my stepson that it will be worth it, he is in exactly that position, with 2 young children, see what answer you get.
diddlydo , a thought like me you were a labour supporter. Tell Kier what you think. He actually wants tougher restrictions, he wanted a circuit breaker in England when we had are firebrake in Wales, but Kier will vote for these.
Maybe your really a right wing Tory as thats the only political party where a largish number of MPs want restrictions to stop. Or maybe UKIP- maybe your a secret Farage supporter??
don;t think diddly is a tory, not going on the anti tory bashes that she is prone to make
nope not farage either.
Classic case of divide and conquer. If we stood en-mass against this authoritarian regime the boot would soon be on the other foot. We won’t th
Dave, I feel for your son and everyone else in that position. But if the lockdown is ignored, this country will be in an even worse state.
Dave. The AUTHORITARIAN regime is the goverment you and me (ok voted labour) less than a year ago. SNP and wales and NI goverments too all agree.boris and trump is not strict enough compared to most countrys so we have almost worst deaths in the world.
Your conspiracy divide and rule agenda 21 is youtube fiction
//You mean you’re not restricted to home after all NJ?//

Yes I am, Zacs. As I explained in an earlier thread, unless I choose to break the law I cannot go out unless I have a reasonable excuse. The very notion that people in this country have to have an acceptable reason to leave their homes is an absolute abomination and one which I cannot accept as justified under any circumstances.

Yes, we know that and respect your opinion, albeit not necessarily accepting it and I know that you will appreciate rather there may well be consequences, which I know you will graciously accept.
//..and I know that you will appreciate rather there may well be consequences, which I know you will graciously accept.//

No I don't accept that there will be consequences from simply going out. There may be consequences from what people do after they've gone out but that's not the same thing at all. People are being told not to go out because they are being treated as irresponsible idiots. Well the news is that the irresponsible idiots will behave as they wish whatever laws are enacted. Others who behave responsibly don't need to be told not to go out in order for them to do so.

Unfortunately, laws, guidance and recommendations are made for all, "the irresponsible idiots " and the "enlightened. "..........being at such times as this, sometimes difficult to differentiate.

So is everyone on here who supports the extended lock down retired or has a guaranteed income? Just wondered.
I am retired and on a guaranteed income but I do not support the lockdown.
Date....no idea about everyone, but I am retired and with a guaranteed income.
And so are we, but I don't think the past lockdowns have created the desired effect ,certainly this current one hasn't !!
