Can someone please explain to me why the EUSSR thinks it has any right to demand access to our waters for fishing. On what basis? ok so the French/Spanish fishermen will be annoyed if we stop them hoovering up the sea but that's not basis for claiming a right is it?

"about the rules, not law breakers"

Isn't ownership of waters enshrined in international law ?
Shaney: It may come as news to you but large companies tend to be owned by rich people. Fishing is no different than telecoms or energy.

Macron is only 42, he was BORN into the European project & can't understand, like many of his & younger generations, anything else. He doesn't know that British coastal waters were once just that. He also thinks that the French, not the British commonwealth plus America, liberated them from the Nazis.

He missed the 20th century history lessons because he was too busy seducing his school teacher!
Khandro now he is having to learn the hard way about immigration in his country and the effect its had over time
don't know about the teacher bit..............
err no currently we import a lot of fish from the EUSSR, fish that has actually been caught in our own waters

err yes. It works both ways.
//most of the fish landed by UK fishermen is exported (while most of the fish eaten in the UK is imported). And of all those exported fish, roughly three quarters are sold within the EU.//

It's no good catching all those fish if you've thrown away your biggest market.
But we’ll be free to throw it all away jno.
Think of that.

I admire the way Johnson is spinning “fiasco” as “Australian style deal”.
Having watch a clip of him earlier “acting” on EastEnders with Barbara Windsor, I’d say he’s much more convincing in an acting role when he’s not actually trying to :-)
"But it's worth remembering that fishing is only a tiny fraction of the overall economy both in the UK (less than 0.1%) and in the EU (some landlocked countries have no fishing fleets at all)."
//It's no good catching all those fish if you've thrown away your biggest market.//

Why do they all have to be caught?
ichkeria, even Malcolm Turnbull says "Australian deal" is a fiasco.

“Be careful what you wish for. Australia’s relationship with the EU is not one, from a trade point of view, that Britain would want.”

We need markets to sell our fish and access to those markets come with conditions, as will every other market we want to sell them in on terms other than standard WTO. It is extremely sad that we have put ourselves in this position but there we are.

jno: //most of the fish landed by UK fishermen is exported (while most of the fish eaten in the UK is imported). And of all those exported fish, roughly three quarters are sold within the EU.// - ok so we keep ours and they keep theirs, tada!
its very sad we have paid billions into the EU over time, money that could have been used for business, industry, NHS and so forth
they are different kinds of fish tora. We catch and sell mackerel and buy and eat cod/haddock by and large
I don't think it's sad. If anything we are learning the hard way what that money bought us quite a lot it turns out.
Ursula V D L has JUST said the claims to access British waters are legitimate, BECAUSE they have accessed them historically, for decades and in some cases,, centuries.
So there we have it. Custom and practise.
They say legally they are trumping our sovereignty.
The BBC are as usual biased against Brexit, emphasising how we might pay more for food with tariffs, whilst ignoring cheap food from the rest of the world, New Zealand lamp comes to mind.

they have good lamps too!

Remind me again how much Haddock and Cod do the French catch in the Bay of Biscay or the Med. I think that you may find that Cod and Haddock is mainly caught in the Barents Sea. The Barents Sea is territorial waters of Norway and Russia. Why are we buying goods that are not the originally from the EUSSR from the EUSSR? We should be doing our business without any involvement or interference from the ponzi scheme that is the EU.
