Animal rights activists never mention halal meat, as they are part and parcel of the same set of people that have unwavering support of the Muslim communities and all their traditions, so they would be tearing themselves inside out trying to reconcile the two issues, so they just ignore it.
Belgium hasn't banned Halal slaughter though, only the slaughter of animals that haven't been pre-stunned.
Here in the UK over 90% of Halal slaughtered meat is already stunned and it is to be hoped that that will soon be 100%.
//NJ I don't believe you need meat; I just think that you like meat and want meat. Is that not the case?//
You don't actually know what I need and what I don't need. You may say that some humans can live without meat but others, because of dietary constraints which means they cannot eat other things, do need meat. But you are correct, I do like to eat meat and I do want to eat it.
Our local Asian shop has a very good butchers, and they kept us going well in the lockdowns so I shall continue to patronise their establishment.
In addition they are very well prices, the meat is excellent quality and you can get things like mutton and goat. There beef is really nice and steaks melt in the mouth. Cant get pork of course but simply go elsewhere for that its not a problem.
My school chum's family business runs a few slaughter houses, don't assume that any the livestock is given a cuddle before it meets its certain end, It is really quite brutal in all senses of the word and death is the end to its suffering.
i bet there is a lot of unauthorised halal slaughter going on in the uk
who cater for the hard core muslims, i remember last year i think
in some news paper, some guy doing it in his backyard...im sure thats
rare though.
