Uk Democracy Under Threat
I only became aware of this today, that the government has voter ID plans whereby in order to vote at polling stations, voters will be required to show official photo ID (such as a passport, driver’s licence etc).
Many people do not hold such ID and will therefore be disenfranchised as a result of this legislation which is likely to impact the poorer sections of our society. Quite why the Labour Party is not up in arms against such plans I don’t know.

You're about a year and a half behind the times, Hymie, but there's some interesting reading here:

Some of your beloved EUSSR countries, France and Italy notably for starters, demand photo ID before allowing their citizens to vote. We will also be adopting new regs. in 2023 to prevent voter fraud. The groups that have in the past benefited from Election fraud(notably local elections) are understandably dismayed at being thwarted. No more vote harvesting then and possibly thousands of ghost voters are busted.
The new plans will be set out in a new Electoral Integrity Bill which will be announced in the Queen’s speech in spring in a bid to get rid of electoral fraud.
Library cards, driving licences and passports will be accepted under the new system, differing from now when voters simply state their name and address.
Those without a form of photographic ID will have to get in touch with their local council who will provide them with a free document allowing them to vote.
""In their election manifesto, the Tories promised to “protect the integrity of our democracy, by introducing identification to vote at polling stations, stopping postal vote harvesting and measures to prevent any foreign interference in elections.""
Guess what the voter agreed with it and elected them ... that is democracy.

If you don’t have any of the required voter ID, I’d recommend you apply for a postal vote.
Having a postal vote has a number of advantages, you won’t have to traipse to your local polling station to vote and unless you take very long vacations, you’ll never miss the opportunity to vote due to be away on holiday.
