How important is it?
I live in England and I don’t see how devolution with any of the 2 nations will make any great impact on my life (I appreciate NI is a different situation).

Going on about Margaret Thatcher is daft. It's a while ago and we face new circumstances. I suppose next we'll have Donald Dewer and Bonnie Prince Charlie. Keep trying to ask why we in the rest of the UK should overly worry if Scotland chooses to leave the UK.
Oh come on! The writing was already on the wall for Callaghan's government, which only had a few more months to run anyway, and the result would surely have been the same Tory landslide either way.

The motion won by a single vote. If you want to pursue a witch hunt, surely the place to start would be Sir Alfred Broughton, the Labour MP who abstained. Had he voted with the government, the motion of no confidence would not have succeeded and Callaghan would have seen out his final few months until October.
I believe worrying is optional.
Who is worried? The politicos maybe but I don't think the rest of us care too much. I would be glad to get the SNP out of Westminster.
1979 is not relevant any more!
No Roy,just angry at how my beautiful country(Scotland)can be hi-jacked by a bunch of incestuous nationalists.
The SNP enabled Thatcher,Jim....you enabled Thatcher, lose sleep over it friend, lose sleep over it,tartan tory...
?
What's the 'No, Roy' about?
Whoosh...
roy: "Have you read the thread, TTT?
(and all the other Scottish independence related threads yfanny has taken part in?) " - yes but it's not clear, if he wants us "mugs" to keep paying he'd be mad to want "independence" right?
There's no whoosh. My post was in reply to Paigntonian.
It doesn't matter who enable TGL, just that she was enabled. Personally I think the hard left made her necessary. Cheers lefties.
I think if a Scotsman regards himself as also British...he doesn't want independence.
Although being born on the British Isles must be a bit of a downer for some.
"1979 is not relevant any more! " - it's very relevant. The work of TGL started then, to save us from becoming a Soviet bloc appendage. To smash the insidious unions, to drag a sick patient kicking and screaming back to health.
A bit misogynistic Roy,there are females north of the border also...
@20.27.So you are now an SNP supporter now,Tora?
I thought you were a bloke?
Ehh....?Kisses..l
"@20.27.So you are now an SNP supporter now,Tora? " - how do you work that out?
