"This fanciful account appears to be from the same source as one which claimed that Hugh MacDiarmid, one of Scotland's greatest writers, was a threat to national security while he wrote poetry from his home in the Shetland Isles.
"The fact that even Tom Johnston, the secretary of state at the time, dismissed the story and released Mr Donaldson from internment speaks volumes for the veracity of this far-fetched tale," he said.'

I reiterate my same p.o.v.. I am half Yorkshire/half Scots. I consider myself British. My maternal grandad was also half Irish, so I'm pretty thoroughly British. My children's father's mother was Llewellyn! They could not be more native British. We belong together. You can't separate genes. We are not a huge island and together we have achieved great things despite differences, setbacks and quarrels.

MI5 wouldn't allow their agents to testify in open court.
I know you've made it your life's work to cast doubt on everything I post, corby. Often taking the skin off your knuckles, so deep do you scrape the Internet barrel to find someone, anyone who'll disagree with me, I've no idea why.
Even your little leftie friends must have your number by now.
I've read dozens of articles about Donaldson and his activities. You scrape up 1 friend of his who cried when his wartime files were released and produce it with a triumphant flourish.
Why would you, or your equally ignorant comrades, consider it so unthinkable that he supported Hitler. A lot of the British establishment did, including The Communist Party of Great Britain and their newspaper, The Daily Worker. (or whatever they were calling it then)
