I am really sad today - I liked him a lot and loved the fact that he could sometimes be sharp and irascible. You only had to see the way he and Her Majesty looked at each other to know that it was a solid partnership. When she described him as her "strength and stay" I thought that was so touching.
RIP.

In a way Covid may have been a good thing for the Queen ,with so many events cancelled she could spend so much more time with him before he died, glad he could die at home, it means so much. I can't begin to imagine what it feels like to have loved someone from the age of 13 and them to be gone and even when it is expected it is still so painful, and yes when someone you love has been ill for so long there is a sense of relief, and guilt for that relief.
The other thing is The Queen has a strong Christian faith so she will have hope to be reunited with him one day. I envy her that.

R.I.P. Sir. Britain would have been a lesser place without your pragmatic presence. If ever a young woman, with a heavy burden to bear, needed someone then you were well chosen by circumstance. Never complained even though you would have been justified in doing so many times. My good lady still remembers your kind and amusing words from way back in the 60s when she was a slip of a girl. God help Her Majesty, your wife, at this pivotal time and us the time and patience to reflect without verdict.
