ichkeria is right... people don't take risks like this unless they are desperate and in any case movement of people however undesirable cannot simply be stopped ... we also cannot expect to do anything about this problem without co-operating with our neighbours... a sentiment that has gone out the window lately...
an awful tragedy and the sneering response to death and suffering just makes it worse

Rubbish! These people are not desperate.
Ichkeria, what do readers of the Daily Express have to do with it - or was that your attempt to undermine anyone who disagrees with you? They have to be thickos. Right?

To be invaded not by a few but by 1000s now crossing the Channel and disappearing into it , if they can’t feed themselves then they’ll steal whatever they can, is that the way forward?

I'll be frank, it wouldn't change mine (apart from the innocent chidren), we have people here in this country, pensioners living from hand to mouth, youngsters sleeping rough on the streets, women being hurt mentally and physically by abusive partners and yes, way too much animal abuse - and for me, they all come first !!
Burly...
i agree about all those problems... and of course UK citizens are the priority for the UK government. This problem cannot just be ignored though... and they can't just be forcibly prevented from coming... historically it is not really possible to stop migration completely. We need to find a way to manage it... more safe routes into the UK.
