Why is it that so many millions of people have received their vaccinations, but there are so many new cases every day? Are most of the people with Covid unvaccinated? We are not told this.

HECORBYLOON: //"90% of people are vaccinated it therefore follows that a 90% of people tested are vaccinated."

That wasn't your original claim though was it? You claimed, "Most of those tested positive will be vaccinated". // - well it follows mathematically (proportionality??) that if 90% of those tested are vaccinated then 90% of those tested positive will be vaccinated. Not hard is it??
"There have been 385,233,163 COVID tests in the UK, of which, 11,542,143 were positive." - yes because those figures include the entire history from when no one was vaccinated. Yesterday 90% of those testing positive will have been vaccinated. vaccinated
"Kardashev your theory about 90% of tests will be for vaccinated will only be true if tests recorded are taken completley at random. There not. " - No, 90% of any selected group over 11 are vaccinated.
still waiting for gness and sqad to tell me how the vaccine works.
//Yesterday 90% of those testing positive will have been vaccinated. vaccinated//

Very doubtfull still. Very doubtfull indeed. Its not a random sample its a self selecting sample of those who have symtoms and feel pretty unwell.

But how will you know? Have you got any data for recent days or weeks for example or are you just guessing. I think it will now be something more like 50% single or double vaccinated but lower for boosted, but have no data either
Leaving aside the fact that the Omicron variant, as we all know, has greatly reduced the effectiveness of the first vaccine cycle and also leaving aside the fact that vaccine effectiveness weakens over time, as we all know, the “90% tested must be vaccinated” argument is specious as presumably a good proportion of those testing positive already have symptoms therefore it isn’t a random sample.
Other studies use random samples to assess the levels of infection

I guess you never read up on it the kardashev.

Heres just one link, could of chosen loads

If I picked everyone wearing yellow trousers, 90% of them will be vaccinated because 90% of everyone is vaccinated. See? It does not matter what set you pick 90% of will be vaccinated. That includes 90% of those wearing a Tie or 90% of those coughing. The Set makes no difference 90% of it will be vaccinated.

"But how will you know? Have you got any data for recent days or weeks for example or are you just guessing. I think it will now be something more like 50% single or double vaccinated but lower for boosted, but have no data either " - Ok lets use Algebra, shall we, lets say the percentage is N then N% of those tested will be vaccinated, See? 90% of people over 11 have had at least 1 jab, thus in any group 90% of those tested will have had at least 1 jab. That's the point, of course those numbers change as more and more got jabbed. I'm not trying to pin point an exact percentage over the curve of vaccinations, that would take Differentiation, I initially made the point that if N% are vaccinated then N% of those tested positive will be vaccinated.

I had no idea I'd joined a site where the clientele are so innumerate.

09:57, well the firts sentence in the first link verifies what I said at the start: "All vaccines contain ingredients that help your immune system make antibodies (proteins that fight off infection and disease)."
I said @21:06 " it arms the immune system to fight off the virus quicker and more effectively it doesn't stop it entering the body."
//testing everyone with any sort of symptom does nothing except create numbers and frighten people and politicians.//
Again kardashev I just dont see your point.
Are you saying we shouldnt even try to get an idea of how many people have the virus. Surely it tells us whether its going up or down and tells us whats likely to happen with hospital beds and deaths
Vaccines give immunity to diseases.
Just because Covid vaccines aren't working as promised, you can't change the meaning of vaccinated, etc. Kardashev.
One of my Dr colleagues has told me that the first thing people ask when they come to A&E is, “Can I have my vaccine please?” So for the benefit of anyone who is unvaccinated, FWIW, when you come to A&E with Covid-related cough and breathlessness, it is TOO LATE to have your vaccine. You’re in God’s hands from that point.
// Surely it tells us whether its going up or down//

Not really - only if you test everyone, every day (or week).
bobinwales: "Are you saying we shouldnt even try to get an idea of how many people have the virus." - well what we are currently doing does not give us an idea. We test a large number but a tiny proportion of the population that means the true figure is unknown. Do more tests get more cases!
"Surely it tells us whether its going up or down and tells us what's likely to happen with hospital beds and deaths " - no it's meaningless because unless we test everyone every day the true number is of cases in the country is unknown and always will be.
spicerack: "Vaccines give immunity to diseases.
Just because Covid vaccines aren't working as promised, you can't change the meaning of vaccinated, etc. Kardashev. " - ok we may be playing semantics here but vaccines do not give immunity, the covid vaccines is work like all the others. The virus can still enter the body but the vaccine has armed the system with the tools to fight it of quickly and efficiently. Why is that so difficult for people to grasp? The number of positive tests for vaccinated people illustrates that, not that "Covid vaccines aren't working as promised" - that's how all vaccines work.
Krdashev sorry but your completely wrong just because 90 % are vaxxed does not mean 90% of those tested have been vaxxed.
As we have said it's not a random sample what's tested. It's a biased sample...
bobinwales, read my post at 10:04. Picking people to be tested is just another way of picking a random sample. All the samples are random! People are getting tested randomly, the virus is the random selector. If N% of something has a trait then N% of any random subset will also have N% of that trait. I can't make it any simpler.
The positive tests in the daily figures do not come from random samples.
"The positive tests in the daily figures do not come from random samples" - yes they do. How are people picked to be tested? They are in effect picked randomly because the reasons for the tests whilst not themselves random, induce random selection by proxy.
Ok lets say you have 1000 cards, 90% of them are red, 10% are black. Shuffle the cards and pick 100 at random. How many of that 100 will be red?
They are not picked to be tested for these daily figures.
As I explained earlier there are other studies where people ARE picked at random but the daily figures we see quoted every day are not done like that.
