New Year's Eve plans in England have been given the green light, as Sajid Javid confirmed the government will not be imposing any further restrictions before the New Year.

Teapots...the doubling every few days was for omicron so the 40000 ta day that was delta etc weren't relevant... omicron was only a few hundred a day initially so has been doubling.
Specially London...but look at premier league footballers. . Was a handful now over a 100. loads of matches off

Makes not the slightest difference to me as I’ve never ever understood the need to see in another year with a lot of carousing.
I think no one can know if it’s right until after the event. You hope it is of course.
I’m glad it wasn’t up to me to balance politics economics and health. I wonder how much is a gamble

I think this indignation over drakeford may be inappropriate. I listened to all his speech on the day and a reporter during the Q & A session afterwards asked him if he was punishing people for going to work. He said that the idea was that if an employer insisted on a welsh worker attending the office or whatever, the employee should tell the employer he couldn't as drakeford would fine him/her the £60 or whatever it was daily. Looks like drakeford was playing with reverse logic here but it's a neat idea because what's the point in travelling to the office if you lose 60 quid of your wages daily. It would put the employee in a pretty powerful position undoubtedly.
Yes, absolutely the right decision. Other home countries have increased restrictions - and yet cases are rising. People aren't dying any more than with 'flu (and there is a nasty variant about which 2 people I know have caught). I don't know about other countries - been switched-off for Christmas, rather nice.
We're just fed-up of it and would rather we all took our chances - the vast majority of the population is vaccinated and the ones that aren't - won't be. You can never achieve 100% and I can understand the point that is 'Why?'; lockdowns still happen even if you are vaccinated - and you can still catch it and pass it on.

Personally I'm not sure about these new pills to treat Covid. Covid is a coronavirus and so are some of the viruses that cause the common cold. Are we really at the point where we've maybe cured the common cold because these new treatments have come online? Surprising what big pharma can do if this is true because they've been looking for a cure for the common cold for donkeys years.
