The truth of the matter is that many supermarkets have had their way of working disrupted, nearly all of them work on a just in time basis. The disruption is for many reasons. Like hearing it or not, Brexit is one of them. Now some may insist that they have not experienced a shortage regarding their own personal shopping list, but one thing is for sure is that your...

Folk are free to post links contradicting his claims if they want to.
Done it again gully. All those abers replying to your OP :-)
Smowball said that there were gaps on Lidl shelves at 5pm...I think that most supermarkets are the same.
Just back from Waitrose and they are fully-stocked, but I know if I were to go late afternoon, there would be gaps (particularly veg and bakery)...but fully-stocked again tomorrow morning.
That's the way supermarkets work these days...they simply don't have fresh/perishable food in stock. It's delivered, it's displayed, it's sold and that's it 'til next day's deliveries.
Just been to Tesco. There are some gaps on the shelves, but people aren’t going to starve any time soon.

Stickybottle @ 14.06 Can you please explain what SFTTP means ?
We have suffered shortages since this all began - but of course no one is interested because we are in Northern Ireland.
We no longer get things delivered from loads of large companies and small companies alike!

The truth of the matter is that many supermarkets have had their way of working disrupted, nearly all of them work on a just in time basis. The disruption is for many reasons. Like hearing it or not, Brexit is one of them. Now some may insist that they have not experienced a shortage regarding their own personal shopping list, but one thing is for sure is that your personal cost of that shopping list is on the increase.

Supermarkets profit is based on the way they operate, once that operation is disrupted ( just in time) then gaps on the shelves is bad news, also goods arriving late will shorten the time those goods remain in store for you to buy, before they are dumped. More loss to the supermarket leading to higher prices to the customer.

Best Answer to Teapots @12.21..... Spot on again T/P......
Not just NI, Helen. The mess that is Brexit means the same is happening with deliveries from the UK to us here in the south.
Overall the loss to businesses must be huge.
