I heard three reasons quoted for why Russia can be expelled from the UN Security Council.
I expected to be hearing about arcane legal loopholes but they were as follows:
The rules say:
1) you can’t be a member and attack another member without provocation
2) you can’t be a member if you persistently thwart the Council by vetoing its resolutions
3) Russia was never formally appointed to the SC: it joined as the Soviet Union
Take your pick from those, I say
