Well I dont agree with him on this self declaring gender but at least he had the balls to do it unlike other ladies recently.

Not sure how it will go down with the women voters, perhaps a few ladies might like to inform us?

Let’s stop with this nonsense. Men are not women.
Nobody is saying that they are. Men aren't women; transgender women aren't men; transgender women are women.

All of this amounts, as I've said, to an axiom. One can define "women" to include transwomen, or not, but it's a choice and not a lie. You choose not to. Starmer chooses to. Neither of you is lying.
Fools are also to be allowed to self identify as geniuses. ... and vice versa.
Part of the OP's link is copied below.

"Calling for a more 'respectful' debate on transgender issues, the Labour leader said: 'A woman is a female adult and, in addition to that, trans women are women, and that is not just my view — that is actually the law.

'It has been the law through the combined effects of the 2004 [Gender Recognition] Act and the 2010 [Equality] Act.'"

Note that he did not express an opinion and then finish by saying "End of!"
// and that is not just my view — that is actually the law.//

"The law is an ass". George Chapman 1654 ... but it is now self identifying as a Unicorn.
Togo; it might be an ass, but it is the law. You can do better than that, surely?
If it looks like a bloke, walks like a bloke, talks like a bloke, chances are it could be a duck…..
// that is not just my view — that is actually the law. //

at this time, that would only be true if the individual holds a gender reassignment certificate (GRC). This means that a trans woman who does not hold a GRC is (for now) legally male. when/if the law changes then the GRC would be replaced by an affidavit sworn in front of whoever the law decides will be arbiter.
@17.23. Had you covered at 16.59. (not the vice versa bit) :))
Jim, transgender women aren’t women and to claim they are is not only a lie, it’s a gross insult. Nothing gives anyone the right to render real women nondescript - but not only is that happening, we now have idiot politicians attempting to make the right ‘woke’ noises in order to ingratiate themselves to a small but highly vocal minority. Bet your boots Starmer is married to a real woman and, like most men, wouldn’t do it at other way! How dare anyone think it acceptable to demand women meekly accept all of this? Well it isn’t acceptable so take a hike! Fantasise as you will, dress as you will, paint your faces as you will, have bits cut off and pumped up as you will - all of that is your problem, not mine - but none of it makes men women.
Trans women are women.

They're not men.

I celebrate that there are people like Starmer willing to stick their neck out and enter into the debate.

Trans women aren't lying - they're living their truth and I personally have a huge amount fo respect for anyone brave enough to live their lives honestly - especially with what they must have to put up with on a daily basis.

People who talk about the 'woke minority' may be mistaking that demographic for young people - many of whom have reject the views of those who grew up in the last century.
SP. Their truth is imaginary. They are not women.
Very noble.

Except for one tiny detail.

Trans women are NOT actually women.
After MeAgain Markle “their truth”, or in her case “my truth” is now code for ‘I’m making *** up and lying but you are required to believe me.’
Trans women are women.

A type of woman.

I don't believe that being a man or a woman is based solely on biology. But I'm no expect - I tend to believe those that are expert in the field and who work with trans women.

But it's good that people should be able to express their difference of opinion.

...and trans women are women. Just a type of woman.

Not a cisgender woman.
Given Bristol University is now recognising Catgender, I think the debate about trans women being proper women (they’re not) has moved on.

Outside of work I am one lazy sod, and therefore I am now officially identifying as a Sloth. I am Slothgender.

I demand everybody recognise my Sloth identity, and more importantly I demand you respect it.
If you don't like the law, then try to get it changed. I prefer the law of the country rather than the law of AB.
//I prefer the law of the country//

Which Country? The one you live in or the imaginary one?
Togo; I live in England. Are you saying that Keir Starmer got the law wrong? If so, can you substantiate that?
Question Author
I think the real underlying problem is the 'self declaring' bit.

This ultimately means that anyone can declare that they are a woman and demand to be in female jails, changing rooms, safe refuges and compete in sports against other women. This is clearly not acceptable and is open to abuse of the system.

It wont be long, its happened in a few cases already, when we get perverts and kiddy fiddlers declaring themselves transgender and entering female spaces to commit atrocities. This often happens with ultra liberal views, they dont take account of the actions and what it can lead to.

Of course, anyone 'fully transitioned' it is a totally different ball game, but thats not the topic here or what SKS is backing.
