He said the outcome for May was a, “terrible result for the Prime Minister”. He said about Johnson's vote, “It was a good victory for the prime minister, he won comfortably" Regardless of what he said the respective PMs should do next, those comments alone are hypocritical.

Okay Athiest
For goodness sake SP, get a life.

These are politicians and it's spin, Alistair Campbell of your favoured labour party was excellent at it.

In an ideal world maybe you would have a point, but we dont.
^^^Another example of hypocrisy...

Leader of the Opposition calling for the resignation of the Prime Minister during the investigation and before a fine was issued, and Starmer not resigning while the investigation of him takes place!
Mine was to SP.
Atheist, rarely we agree, but in this instance you have hit the nail on the head. IMHO of course.
I'm not sure what you meant there, sp, but what I wanted to point out is that people tend to support their own gang at the expense of what they should regard as fair and rational argument.
You're right wing and I'm not? So you're wrong.
You're left-wing and I'm not? So you're wrong.
You're Catholic and I'm Protestant? So you're wrong.'And so it goes...
People can be so silly.
So SP, by your reckoning, if it’s hypocritical to fail to support May - who survived the vote - is it equally hypocritical to fail to support Boris - who also survived the vote? It should be. No?
Thanks, YMB. I think we disagree on so much, but you do have a touch of the gentleman about you. Unlike some here who never give an inch.
You are scraping something up without presenting all the facts. He quite clearly explained in an interview shown on TV this week that he was quite wrong about what he said about T May after her vote survival by a similar margin. He said he shouldn't have said it and apologised. That's not hypocrasy that's making a mistake and learning from it.
NAOMI, I'm not on about his saying May should go and Johnson should carry on, he explained that by saying both were democratic results and that he regrets saying May should go.

It's his description of the votes received by each, one was "terrible" but the smaller margin was, "good" and "comfortable".

He cannot have it both ways.
Prudie. I'm sure he knew what he was saying at the time, and only apologised when he was called out. Do you really think that he didn't know that he might sound hypocritical? I think he hoped that he wouldn't be called out, but then discovered that he was wrong.
And he was right in the sense that there are people who defend him.
He was told he was wrong and apologised at the time, not this week after the vote.
Thanks, Prudie.

Well, I guess it’s easy to be wise after the event when caught with your pants down as a huge hypocrite! Lol.
YMB; East is East and West is West, and ne'er the twain shall meet..."

"Although Kipling’s famous poem, The Ballad of East and West, begins by highlighting difference, his main theme is mutual respect, as the second line reveals, ‘But there is neither East nor West…when two strong men stand face to face, though they come from the ends of the earth!’

I disagree with you, but I don't abuse you. Sadly, some here mistake abuse for argument.

BTW, I don't regard myself as a 'strong man'...

So he apologised for the TM statement - in which interview was that? Was it before the BJ vote or after his comments about BJ’s no confidence vote?

I may have told you this before or I may not - but I’m not ‘a Labour supporter’. I’ve voted Labour a couple of times but mostly I vote tacitly.

You can put that Labour thing to bed. It’s (drum roll)…reductive.
well you 5C types are still struggling with English so gawd knows what you are on about.
TTT; You wouldn't understand. You can't spell and you can't talk English properly.
