When push comes to shove, I'm not celebrating Boris' downfall (although I have to admit that I'm rather enjoying watching his supported on here squirm and his so-called allies within the party go full Brutus as they plunge their knives in). I'll save that celebration for when/if the Tories are no longer running the show.

Back in 2019 the succession went like this.
24 May - May said she was resigning next month
7 June - She resigns.
10 June - Nominations for leadership contest open
20 June - Fifth ballot of MPs. Johnson and Hunt remain.
5 July - All Conservative members balloted by post
23 July - Johnson declared the winner
24 July - He takes over from May as party leader and PM.
Not sure why something similar cannot happen now. Who decided it will be resolved in October?

Yesterday, watching tennis, I posed the innocuous question that, looking at it today, led to a large response. However I was, and still am, amazed at the vitriol it raised from one or two Abers as it speaks more about them than me and my question was merely an idle one, curious, with no malice behind it. I am in my eightieth year and a female, an old lady, a grandma with no guile about me.
Most of us appreciate that, Stargazer. There are one or two Johnson fans on here who have supported him...god knows why... and now can't cope gracefully with his coming exit from No 10 in disgrace and the relief some of us are taking in that because we know it will be so much better for the country.
It was early days and they were grumpy and took it out on you. Pay no heed at all.... :-)
