Jacob Rees-Mogg

Extraordinary that he now attacks Sunak for being 'a high tax chancellor' and blames the treasury for fiscal incompetence. One can only wonder why he didn't express these views when he had some say in government and wonder why Boris didn't heed what his close mate thought.

Yet another reason why absolutely nobody from the Johnson cabinet can stand for leadership, they’ve all got the Johnson kite mark, they’re tarnished. The leader must come from one of the 148 who went against Johnson in the VONC and the cabinet must be made up from them too.

Ah yes, JRM. The man who......
In December 2009, Jacob produced a pamphlet that supposedly showed him talking to a local constituent and calling on the government to “show more honesty”. It later emerged that the “constituent” in the pamphlet was one of Jacob’s own employees.
In 2013, JRM spoke at the annual dinner of Traditional Britain Group – an alt-right organisation. He called for British people of colour to be deported. It is understood that he knew about the groups’ politics before the dinner. The organisation later called on Doreen Lawrence, Stephen Lawrence's mother, to return to her “natural homeland”.
The ladies might like to know that he is against abortion in all circumstances, and has said: “life begins at the point of conception.”
He has voted twice to repeal the human rights act.
Future PM material?

I don't care where he got the name Sixtus from or how good his Latin is or isn't, all I'm saying is that having six kids and calling the sixth one Sixtus [Dominic Boniface Christopher] Rees-Mogg tells you all you need to know about his judgement and how he treats things that are in his care, like his children or his role in government.
Yes, he's very much a devout Catholic, hence the six kids, hence naming his child after a pope who died in 258, hence the strong stance on abortion ...

> So Ellipsis a woman who has 6 kids or more and calls the last couple say Elvis and Britny it is quite acceptable for me to pre-judge what kind of person she is and how much she'd care or not for her children?
I'm sure you wouldn't do that ...
I didn't make any comment on what type of person JRM is or whether he cares for little Sixtus. I'm sure he does, as I'm sure does Sixtus's Auntie Annunziata.
I made a comment about his judgment.

> You said that based entirely on what he named his 6th child that you knew about his judgement and how he'd treat things in his care. Dislike him for valid reasons but surely not because of what he'd called his child.
I don't dislike him, but I don't trust his judgment. I'm being somewhat flippant by saying you can tell all you need to know about his judgment by the fact that he named his sixth child Sixtus, but there is a lot of truth in it too!
I'm sure he cares for his child, but that doesn't mean his judgment in naming him after that long-dead pope was good. In fact, I'm assuming he cares deeply for his child when I say that his judgment must be bad, because if he hated the child then of course it would make sense to saddle him with that name.

//Do we need a "Minister For Brexit Opportunities"...//
Yes. The UK had almost half a century being tied to Mother EU's apron strings and many Civil Servants and politicians had no idea how to manage the country outside the EU.
//...and, if so, is he any good at it?//
Time will tell. You cannot undo fifty years of political and economic entanglement very quickly or easily.
