10 days after the catastraf*** that was the Fiscal Event…..

https://news.sky.com/story/liz-truss-to-delay-approval-vote-on-cutting-45p-rate-of-tax-cabinet-minister-says-12710703

Sounds like she’s lost the Parliamentary party already.
Well, we knew it was going to be a roller-coaster ride…..Lol.
How to install confidence in Britain and the markets eh?

^ Our forefathers also ensured we have a right to freedom of speech, Bobbi. And that includes criticising the government of the day, irrespective of whether or not we used our right to vote.

//Govt. gets something wrong. Puts it right. Criticised for u-turn.//

Yeah, looks totally competent and professional when you do that within 10 days of a brand new government, doesn’t it?
All the usual bleaters attacking the poster instead of addressing the main issue i.e. it’s NEWS and pretty significant news in light of how they nearly trashed the economy last week.
Not my fault if you have no grasp of reality and the implications and repercussions of it.
Ken ,but what’s the point of criticising the Government if you don’t use your vote to change it?

//Very well put Emmie,by the way I’ve never ‘sucked a Werther’ in my life but I do like Countdown as it keeps my old brain working and I DO use my vote both on local and General Elections because not doing , you give up the right to criticise who’s been elected !!!//

Adversely, I served in HM Forces, ergo I defended democracy, the very same that allows you to post as you will but also gives me the democratic right to admonish this government or any other that I see fit, as does anyone else within the law.
You’ll do well to remember that.

That’s why we have a free press, that allows governments to be held to account. It’s democracy, take it up with the media and newspapers, I’m just echoing what political commentators and public alike are doing.
Criticism is just another way of expressing an opinion, Bobbi. I've seen you criticise a certain tv soap many times, yet you continue to watch. Pointless you criticising it, then? No. You are expressing your opinion.
By the way, just so there's no misunderstanding, i do use my vote :-)
FatticusInch, can you stop being agressive and being fully like and constantly being director older users. You make yourself look stupid when you are obviously not. You can't divide people into age groups. All younger people are not rude like you thank goodness. And all older people aren't old fogeys. Remember many of us have scoot of experience and still have very astute attitudes. Please try being kind¡
Gully like not fully like

It was the first vaguely conservative policy in 12yrs of Tory rule, surrendered at the first hurdle to the undemocratic blob.
Making her, deservedly, look an idiot. And anyone who defended the policy, undeservedly, look an idiot.
And will embolden the blob to kick off at any and every non socialist policy knowing they're in control. ( The Champagne will be flowing at the aBBC and Sky this morning)
And who can blame AB's own vocal, persistent Komintern if they now consider themselves economic geniuses.
The Govt. has done the right thing. Sorry if that offends some people. It'll be forgotten by the time of the next GE. There are an awful lot of other things that we're going to have to worry about.
Tick where applicable;

The government have done the right thing.

The government have been forced into doing the right thing.
"The Govt." haven't done the right thing.

The Prime Minister and her Chancellor have caved in, the rest of 'the govt.' have nothing to do with it.
I’m pretty sure they have, dooogie. Internal pressure from other party members has been a factor according to most news sources.
Why are some people venting their anger on our dear old lefties.
Let them enjoy 'being proved right' for once.
It's this terminally useless, allegedly Conservative Government, that deserves your scorn.
We need our own Meroni.
Chow.

The sign of a confident and competent government, all pulling in the right direction, eh?
Just what exactly IS the Party line at the moment? Is it this?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_Sorry_I_Haven%27t_a_Clue

So it seems that Truss, Kwarteng, Philp and the hand all now have to do an embarrassing climb down on their glorious plan to save HMS UK and it’s economy, when in reality they’ve scuppered it below the waterline and sunk themselves.
Sir Graham Brady’s head must be spinning this morning.

Party Line…..
Aaaaah, do you remember those halogen days when a party’s overall aims came above the greed of individual politicians?

I think the Party Line must be Colombian Marching Powder these days, given the present confused state of politics.

Indeed, like how to make the mortgage payments after the much-lauded ‘fiscal event’ that helped Odey make millions in one day as the Pound sunk without trace? Not very patriotic is it, being a massive Tory, making money off the value of the Pound dropping?
Kwarteng may yet be investigated for that ‘champagne reception’ with the hedge funders/party faithful on the day they made a fortune out of him.

Halogen days? Seeing the light amidst the darkness? Or ‘anyone but the Tories’ as it’s known?

Or did you mean halcyon?
Let's spare a thought for those earning £150,000 a year or more. They
must be gutted.

Absolutely! Not to mention the millionaires, they’ll only have £600,000 to get by on now instead of £650,000.
Hope they’re not too frivolous with the heating when a proper cold snap kicks in?
That said, they’ll probably over-winter in Barbados or the Seychelles.
The rigours of life eh?

Still, we’ll get the benefit once the Truss Trickle-Down starts up, won’t we?
