Richi Sunak
Tory MPs have just, without any mandate from the British electorate, voted in as representative of their party & the country, the first non-white leader of any European country in its history, that is to say back & before pre-Roman times. A man who is richer than any other European politician, a Hindu of a Christian country, who has recently applied for a green card to work in the US, & whose fabulously wealthy wife has had to be shamed into paying UK taxes, and who has i.m.o. the charisma of my front door mat (which, memo. badly needs replacing) & would have less chance of connecting with the working class people beyond the 'red Wall' than a covid- bearing Chinaman.

I can see where you're coming from, Khandro. Think of all the kudos and apologies you'll receive when reality dawns and Rishi imposes CBDC and Digital Id's. (Jim must be rubbing his hands together in anticipation ) Congratulati ons to you, by the way, for bringing left and right ABers together in such a heartwarming display of unity (even if it was only to hate...

Khandro:
"What no one has mentioned, or probably failed to see, is that the real victors in this fiasco is Goldman Sachs, - they must be opening the Bollinger over there. They got Macron into France & now one of theirs into Britain. Investment bankers and bondholders are running the show folks, as seen when they got rid of Truss in short order."
Could you perhaps expand a little on the methods used by Goldman Sachs to ensure the posts of Macron and Sunak, and the ousting of Truss?

atheist: 'Trussonomics' was strangled at birth by the bondholders & investment bankers, bringing quick governmental collapse.
Financial manipulation is a big subject. Macron was an investment banker at Rothschild & Co. Sunak worked at Goldman Sachs, they're all tarred with the same brush. Start here about GS if you like;

ken // You revealed your true self with 'first non-white leader'. //
A 100% accurate remark, is it not? (I shall btw in half an hours time be playing golf with my Pakistani friend, Mohammad.)
n. // who would you have preferred as PM? //
Your question is in the past tense, so I would have said Boris, but now in the light of what he has done to all his supporters - having got sufficient of their votes & then bowing out, which I think is despicable, I must say no.
I think Ben Wallace what I know of him seems to be a four-square guy who is well respected, but of course he didn't stand. Non of that matters though, because the Tories are finished & probably about time too.

dave, //Tory MPs have a thumping majority in the HoC. Is that not a mandate from the British electorate? You are an idiot Khandro.//
Why so aggressive ? I don't think I'm an idiot, do you not understand what the rules were?
If there had been two contenders & Boris hadn't backed out, the card-carrying members of the Tory party would have cast their votes via the internet this week.
Every informed political commentator believed in a head to head between Sunak & Johnson, Boris would have been an easy winner, because he's infinitely more popular with grass roots membership.
THAT my friend, would have had a MANDATE from the British Tory electorate, not just a vote from the self-serving Tory MPs.

The problem Boris Johnson had, khandro, and to be fair to him he acknowledged it, is that there simply would not have been people prepared to serve under him. Most of his backers, even if they numbered as many as 102, were non really cabinet material and you might be able to get on the ballot paper, but you have to actually govern after it.
It would have sparked a civil war very likely in the party.

Tory party members are not the "Tory electorate", They are a tiny number relative to the population and to those who voted Tory last time. Some of them may not even be bona fide members, they could be foreign infiltrators. There is also significant concern about the possibility of hacking by foreign agencies.
