I think that the lady was asking where her family originated from. I think that is a genuine question, maybe not the time nor the place but it is hardly a major issue.

Zacs - // Andy, anyone with more than a 7 year old's grasp of English can see you've made more than a 'suggestion' that she questioned Ms Fulani more than once. //
Either you don't read, or you don't understand, what I write, frankly I couldn't care less which it is.
I have never said, or implyed that Lady Hussey did not question Ms Fulani more than once - she did, which was the reason why Ms Fulani took offence in the first place.
But I did not say that she asked the question "Where are you really from?" more than once, as Roy stated that I had.
So again, by all means argue with my on what I have said, but not your incorrect assumptions based on something I have not said at all.
That's a waste of my valuable time.
Thank you.

Andy, most of your contra-arguments with people on here seem to revolve around semantics. It's clear to everyone else what you wrote and the blatant fact that it contradicts you saying you didn't even 'suggest' Ms Felani was asked something twice. The semantics here seem to be the fact that the LIW didn't use the specific wording twice but you made several posts which clearly show that the LIW was persistent in her questioning.
'That's a waste of my valuable time.'
Get over yourself, man. If time is valuable to you then the contradiction here is you having some much time to spend on this thread!

Again Zacs, I have never sought to suggest that I did not say that Lady Hussey;s questioning was persistent - to repeat myself again, that is entirely the reason why Ms Fulani was so upset with the conversation.
So for the third, and last time -
Yes, I did say that Lady Hussey's questioning was persistent, that is the bedrock of my entire position on this thread.
And no, I did not say that she repleated her question "Where are ytou really from?" more than once - which is a nonsense that Roy dreamed up, and you have decided to run with.
But repeating yourself does not make you correct - feel free to trawl any and all of my posts to find out what I did say, which requires no smoke and mirrors from either of you to try and twist it into something it is not.
In case it has escaped your notice, and your inability to read an understand what I write suggests that it well may have done so -
We all communicate entirely in written form, and I for once try really really hard to convey what I mean, with as little room for misinterpretation as possible.
As a professional writer, I am actually very good at it, but everyone can occasionally be misunderstood.
Accidentally in most cases, deliberately by some, including you and a couple of other AB'ers who tirelessly put their feet in their mouths with exchanges like this one.
Because we only have our written exchanges, semantics are the bedrock of communication, and that is why, when people misunderstand what i say, either because i did not make myself clear, or because they simply don't like me, and want a pointless tedious fight, I will argue the semantics until hell freezes over.
I have done it for twenty-two years an counting, I have no intention of stopping now.
Oh, and finally - // 'That's a waste of my valuable time.'
Get over yourself, man. If time is valuable to you then the contradiction here is you having some much time to spend on this thread! //
I also accept that humour does not always reach the recipient, especially one so fired up with righteous anger over something that doesn't actually exist.
I'll try and be as po-faced as you from now on ....

It was me that wrote this:
> That doesn't explain why Lady Susan Hussey persisted in asking "Where are you really from?"
I phrased it like this because every question Lasy Susan asked was asking this exact same question in a different way, as she tried to get her meaning across ...
* Where are you from?
* No, where do you come from?
* No, what part of Africa are you from?
* Well, you must know where you're from, I spent time in France. Where are you from?
* No, but what nationality are you?
* No, but where do you really come from, where do your people come from?
* Oh I can see I am going to have a challenge getting you to say where you're from. When did you first come here?
* Oh so you're from...

Zacs - // 'I have never sought to suggest that I did not say that Lady Hussey;s questioning was persistent'
So why write 'I have never suggested that it was said 'persistently, or even more than once.' //
Because the 'it' to which I referred was specific reference to Lady Hussey's question "Yes, but where are you really from?"
Lady's Hussey's questioning was persistent, as I said.
According to the report, the quote "Yes, but where are you really from?" she only said once.
And that is what I said - have another trawl if you are not sure.
// You're delusional (and you're sense of humour needs some serious work). //
And you are persistently unable to grasp what is put in front of you, even when you quote it back - but hey, we have to work with what we've got.

Zacs - //
'Because the 'it' to which I referred was specific reference to Lady Hussey's question "Yes, but where are you really from?"'
More semantics. You're wasting your valuable time again, Andy. //
I would never say that providing evidence that I am right, and whichever nit-picking antagonist is shooting themselves in the foot with each post they write, is wrong, is wasting my valuable time.
Quite the opposite.
You can coast along with me to a record-breaking six hundred posts if you want Zacs, and right through to seven hundred if you don't run out of pointless arguments by then.

Erm.....no it doesn't, it proves you were obfuscating when you wrote 'I have never suggested that it was said 'persistently, or even more than once.' //
I can't believe that you have actually failed to grasp the point I have made several times now, so I must conclude that you are not actually as willfully stupid as you are appearing to be, but you are simply carrying on this nonsensical farce of yours because you want to be the person posting the six-hundredth and record-breaking post on Answerbank.
I will try and engineer it so that you have that honour, and then maybe you will stop trying to prove that you are correct, when the evidence is clearly there to prove otherwise.

But I did not say that she asked the question "Where are you really from?" more than once, as Roy stated that I had.
