Of course they can. Don't you watch the Disney animated films? They can even talk you know. Meehh. ......What do you think that wild horses do, or did, to survive and evolve? Like all Earths creatures they weighed up the odds of survival. The ones who were good at it are still here. Byyee.

//I eat Beef// etc. etc.

Then I am sure that you are equally vociferous in your condemnations, and online protests, about the Spanish practice of bull fighting, cock fighting in Asia, and hog wrestling in America. ..... Though not. No emo return for you from those parts.
It's a very emotive and subjective topic.
I believe dog owners that think they are being loving when they overfeed their pets to the point they are so fat they can't run are cruel, as are cat owners who never allow their cats to go outdoors. In my opinion of course.

I eat meat and game but know exactly where it comes from and know the animals are very well cared for - as far as I possibly can. When I eat out I mostly choose fish or vegetarian.

My daughter is vegan but believes it would be cruel to feed her cats and dogs a vegan diet so she cooks offal for them. Some vegans would not agree with her.

I am not opposed to the Grand National but I don't support it in any way, not being a gambler.
Togo // the Spanish practice of bull fighting, cock fighting in Asia, and hog wrestling in America//
I didn't see those things mentioned but I am most certainly against them, and any other practice that uses animals for sport.
//I didn't see those things mentioned //

?? You mentioned Beef, Chicken and Pork. I take it you know where they come from?
I feel the same Barsel. Using animals for entertainment and profit to me is so wrong. We are animals. They matter as much as we do. However in my younger days my uncle took me to the races. I asked him to place a bet on for me on a horse that had the same name as a young man i had my eyes on back home. The race started, the horse bolted and went off in the wrong direction. As did the young man a few week later. That was the only time I placed a bet.

Togo//You mentioned Beef, Chicken and Pork. I take it you know where they come from?//
I do yes, Tesco.
Oh dear Lottie.
Perhaps it was for the best. x
//I do yes, Tesco.//

It is a start then. Do you remember when Tesco were found to be to be passing off horse flesh as beef? I found some frozen burgers from them tucked away at the back of the freezer once and chucked them away. ... They were off.
I don't know why we allow the sadistic Halal method of slaughter. It's barbaric.
Weird how the 'hand-wringers' never start their own threads on this emotive subject. Always have to hi-jack someone else's.
In the UK the vast majority of Halal slaughter is little different to non-Halal, the animals are stunned first. All New Zealand lamb is Halal.
Most chickens are also Halal.
New Zealand lamb and UK chickens not labelled as Halal simply haven't been stored in a way that complies with Halal ritual - mainly storage and after slaughter handling.
What subject, Ken? Even the OP n thread wasnt about the Grand National it was about people disrupting the so called 'peoples race'. Personally, when i was younger might have joined them. Who knows
//Even the OP n thread wasnt about the Grand National it was about people disrupting the so called 'peoples race'.//sic

It wasn't? What was it about then? The Boat Race? The M6 rush hour traffic? The Grand Prix?
Togo //I found some frozen burgers from them tucked away at the back of the freezer once and chucked them away. ... They were off.??
Very good, I do like a sense of humour.
I think it unlikely that I would have bought it as I take it it was used in mince meat and I never buy that, I only buy full chickens or joints of meat and there was definitely no horses heads on any of them.;-)
The very first answer diverted this thread away from the OP's heading, MissT. ?As you are well aware.
And, having scrolled back through the entire thread, MissT, i see you have made numerous comments. None of which address the OP's intended topic.
That is good Barsel, we find a balance. A sense of humour distances you from the needy, self regarding, parasitic nuisances that infest our heritage events and customs.
\this can only help the protesters case\

Agreed!! The protesters will feel their actions are vindicated by the death of the horse. Will the magistrate see it that way though??

\Without racing those horses would never have lived\

Or ever have been born?
All these weird comments about if racing didn't exist neither would these horses!! That's alright then, give them a life of hell and watch them die on the racecourse, but hey they've had a 'life' haven't they???
Selfish humans only ever think about themselves, as ever. RIP beautiful animals, your torment is over now.
